I tried four times before I was successful now fifteen years later I have never felt better also I taught my self to swim instead of smoking most of it is just habit and also think of the money you will save, keep putting your money in a big sealed tin and at the end of six months not smoking treat your self to a nice holiday in the sun, and take it one day at a time.
Good luck.

Dolly, I quit smoking a long time ago after 10 years or more on almost 2 packs a day! One morning I took two cartons with nice looking ashtray and threw them in the garbage! Had the nicotine fit for two more years, but I was cured and haven't desired to smoke again. You just keep busy, doing all your work every day and you will quit for good, I hope you'll be ok, sooner than I was! Good day and Good luck! Jimmy.

I heard that nicotine gets out of your system in about 3 days and after that, smoking is just habit, not a nicotine craving. So change all your habits. Think what you do when you smoke. If you have a cup of coffee at 10am with a ***, don't drink coffee at 10am. Do things totally differently. Smoking is a habit so when you change that habit, change all the others as well. It's difficult but it keeps your mind occupied. I gave up smoking (after many failed attempts) by changing all my routines. The first week's the worst. After that I just convinced myself that a cigarette would taste awful and when I did light one up for someone else about 6 months later, it did taste awful which certainly reinforced my thinking. Good luck.

I don't want to appear 'cheesy', but your little poetic has potential. Lacking is a 'device'. (it's something critics say at times) I shall tweak it in a way I hear it. If this labor of mine numbs your intent... simply ignore it, settle back and wonder why a person invented popcorn ceilings. -------------- Today is, no maybe - today is; Where I stop with the whining, with sniveling. and get there where I'm off my azzz - do some- thing - put down the damn smokes you sick little monkey - how? many cups of coffee is that - sweep my garage - now ? Think for once - in your life. tomorrow isn't. Too bad as well. . . Editor's Note: I chose the word "well" because it's a word I thought of yesterday but neglected to embrace. You may re-read it again in the last line... for extra joyous moments and things.

I've given up numerous times, the most successful one being when I read Alan Carr, when I managed 5 years.
I broke his rule, and now smoke 60 a day.
Keep busy, enjoy breathing fresh air for a change, and watch your money stack up.
I did have nightmares during the abstinence, and wake up convinced I had smoked, and did actually dream far more in general.
Patches did nothing for me. Will power was hard, but the book convinced me of something I knew already.
It really is easy to give up, but you have to be in a positive frame of mind.
I've given up twice during writing this.
It seems stupid lighting up another one.
I didn't even notice taking it out of the packet!!
Make a conscious effort and you will suceed.
Best of luck.

Well done....good for you!
I packed in for 4 months. I know you said that you don't wanna use nicotene replacement but I have to say the patches were good for me (and free from ure GP). It's still hard but it deffinately takes the edge off cravings during those 1st horrible weeks. I know I didnt suceed this time but thats because I smoke weed also (which I couldnt give up lol) so I decided to just pack in the cigs and carry on smoking weed. That was downfall.
Good luck and keep us posted :-)

One day in 1978, I decided it wasn't doing me any good, so I stopped. Apart from taking a brisk walk every lunchtime, I didn't take any medication or replacement. During the first week, I found myself short of things to do with my hands, so I counted up all the money I was saving. Apart from that, I had no withdrawal symptoms. It's all in the mind - just walk away from it and never go back there.

Go to the herb store and get some lobelia inflata and make a tea. This will lessen the cravings and make you feel mellow at the same time.
