Hey guys... just wondered if any of you guys might be able to help me.

I have ALL of the symptoms of mono, fever, sore throat, swollen spleen, jaundice (on occaison) tired, sore muscles. This has been going on for WEEKS and every time I go into the doctor's they say "MONO" and then they test me for mono and it comes back negative. They tell me to come back in a few day if it hasn't improved. I've been tested 4 separate time for mono. As well as an array of other tests for other things, and they're coming up empty-handed.

Anyone ever hear of someone with mono testing negative like this?

*goes back to sleep*

.Infectious mononucleosis should be suspected in patients 10 to 30 years of age who present with sore throat and significant fatigue, palatal petechiae, posterior cervical or auricular adenopathy, marked adenopathy, or inguinal adenopathy. An atypical lymphocytosis of at least 20 percent or atypical lymphocytosis of at least 10 percent plus lymphocytosis of at least 50 percent strongly supports the diagnosis, as does a positive heterophile antibody test.

Bear in mind that false-negative results of heterophile antibody tests are relatively common early in the course of infection. Patients with negative results may have another infection, such as toxoplasmosis, streptococcal infection, cytomegalovirus infection, or another viral infection.

Symptomatic treatment, the mainstay of care, includes adequate hydration, analgesics, antipyretics, and adequate rest. Bed rest should not be enforced, and the patient's energy level should guide activity. Corticosteroids, acyclovir, and antihistamines are not recommended for routine treatment of infectious mononucleosis, although corticosteroids may benefit patients with respiratory compromise or severe pharyngeal edema.

Patients with infectious mononucleosis should be withdrawn from contact or collision sports for at least four weeks after the onset of symptoms. Fatigue, myalgias, and need for sleep may persist for several months after the acute infection has resolved.

If you have a bad taste in your mouth, my best discription of this is that it tastes like something is dead and rotting in your mouth then you most definately have mono. If you do not have this taste then you do not have mono and should seek more tests done. If you do have this taste, I had mono as well and it didn't show itself for months. Even if you do have mono they don't give you antibiotics for it. They simply tell you to get rest and stay in bed for about a week doing nothing. So if you still think you have it, my advice is stay in bed and get a lot of rest. If you don't know for sure then you should push for your doctors to do more tests. Good luck.

in all probability. Paricularly as a results of fact which you're watching a million beneficial out of four checks entire. replaced into the wellbeing care professional's place of work try a urine or blood try? fake positives are very uncommon and due to an somewhat defective try, as a results of fact the try seems for the presence of a hormone it somewhat is barely modern-day for the time of being pregnant. on the different hand... in case you're very late (greater effective than 2-3 months), that's recommended to have your wellbeing care professional do a handbook examination. that's my expertise that the hormone examined for does not get picked up in later being pregnant, basically in early being pregnant. by using the time you're almost a trimester alongside, i think of a physician would desire to diagnose you by using having a sense around, although. in case you're no longer getting the solutions you like out of your wellbeing care professional's place of work, attempt to locate yet another one. that's the place you will desire to be asking now.
