We don't use pinning, alpha rolls, electric collars or prong collars, yet we still manage to train our dogs!

How on earth do we manage it? lol

Determination, patience and positive reinforcement.
Also we some how manage to house train them without using crates - that's the one I am amazed by.

I live next to a large field, intersected by footpaths. The kids all play football, cricket or generally play. Some uncouth dog owners allow the field to be used as a dogs toilet, compromising the health of the kids that play there. The council came up with a great idea, after years of complaints, and proceeded to paint pictures of dogs at cross sections on the paths. These depicted dogs crapping with a big red cross through it. I know dogs cant read but neither can they understand sign language!.

If you have such well trained dogs, then why did Animal Planet start that new show "It's me or the dog?" It shows the most badly behaved pets I've ever seen. And the show is taped in the UK.

So I guess all pets in the UK aren't that well trained. The UK is just he like the US, just depends. You are no better or no worse. Nice try at snubbing your noses at the US.

Positive reinforcement.. My dog was a total K--bhead when I got him. With a lot of ignoring of his unacceptable behaviour and loads of praise for good behaviour he is now one of the best dogs ever. Everyone who knows him always says "if you ever need to get him a new home I'll have him" But when he was younger I would go home in tears cos he was such an ar-e. He's my best mate now took some hard work, persistence and consistancy. I've had him for 12 years now.

Well two of our dogs are very well trained, it's just our newly adopted 15 month old dog that is a challenge. But I think with Elle's help we'll have him under control soon.

And I think if people have unruly dogs their kids are probably the same way or vice versa.

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/q7CMV

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.

True British grit!!
What the heck is a prong collar? It sounds lethal. Anyone who requires any kind of device to train their dog shouldn't have the dog in the first place. Both mine are well behaved, and just a click of my fingers and pointing to the ground by my feet will get them to me. Repetition works wonders, and it helps to have a treat for them too, but once they get the hang of it it stays with them forever. Or maybe they just want to be with me??
They've also both picked up the meaning of "SPIDER" and as soon as I say it they're there dealing with it for me. I'm so pathetic about spiders, shame on me.
Edit: Soooooooo, just what is wrong this my answer?

Lol, I see your point!
Unfortunately at work I see badly trained dogs everyday.

I'm curious as to what a prong collar is, it sounds like a medieval torture device!

You would be surprised just how many trainers still use and advise the use of such barbaric tools!! Stick a bloody shock collar on them see if it is as harmless as they claim it is.
