If you want to know the earth is round, you don't study evidence that it is flat (as some still do on the net) Negative thinking is a copout for legitimate study.

Best evidence is direct revelation from God.

You can pray to God and He will answer your prayer, and let you know that the Book of Mormon is His word.

Moroni 10:3-5

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

Most Mormons will respond with something like "testimony," "the spirit of the Lord," or "a feeling of peace and warmth." They claim that this is better than any pro- or con- evidence that there is. The only problem is that back when the Ensign (church magazine) used to publish inspirational fiction I used to get the same "warm fuzzies" that they use as "evidence" of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon accounts.

Just because it makes you feel good don't make it true!

Especially when you have to deny real evidence that goes against it being historical. Horses in America prior to the arrival of the Spaniards? Strike! Steel weapons being used in 400 A.D.? Strike! American Indians being the descendants of Jews? Strike! ...you know the rest.

Evidences supporting the BoM:
1. Biblical prophecies such as Isa 29
2. Teaches the same gospel as the Bible
3. Jesus said he had other sheep, not of this fold, they must also hear his voice
4. Archaeological finds that are mentioned in the BoM that have been found in the Americas such as barley, cement, advanced building skills, mounds where they did battle, wheels, metals.
5. Native American legends and traditions that teach a bearded white God who promised to return.
6. Internal literary evidences that include Hebraisms, Chiasmus, Hebrew Grammar, wordprints.

The greatest entity out there that discredits the truth of the BoM? The LDS Mormon church. They do to the BoM what Catholicism did for the Bible.

Not once does the BoM ever teach polygamy, Celestial Marriage, Baptism for the Dead, man becoming Gods, God was once a man, Celestial Marriage for the dead, 3 degrees of glory, the 1st Presidency and assorted lesser doctrines that the LDS currently practice or used to practice and still defend. As a matter of fact the BoM bitterly opposes most of these LDS practices. It not once ever teaches them.

You can go on forever and debate the origin of the BOM. To me it is true if the contents are true. I have not found anything that contradicts what I believe to be the light of Christ. The message of salvation is be found. The answer to many of the perplexing issues in theology such as infant baptism, or the purpose of God and life on earth are found.

What evidence do you need that a book is the WORD of GOD? I mean, even gothic romance novels have proven archaeological evidence in them, but that does not make them real stories, and certainly not the Word of God.

Sorry, more clarification

It's the MESSAGE that's most important. Not where he said it, what pets he migh have had with him. etc.

My testimony, the personal witness I have received from the Holy Ghost confirming that the gospel is true.
That's all the evidence I need.
