Mija- noun, slang/ short form of "Mi hija" meaning "my daughter"

Mijo short for "Mi hijo" meaning "my son"

Its kind of a term of endearment.

I think it is probably "mi hijo" and "mi hija". These mean "my son" and "my daughter" but they are popularly used (a) to speak to any child or (b) to speak affectuionately or kindly to any younger person (not necessarily a child).
