i agree with you.
americans think that by invading iraq and "being the good guys", they can force-shove the american concept of "democracy" down the throats of the iraqi people. that just wont work.
besides, are we to believe that the US would spend millions of dollars in iraq just to restore order and promote justice and democracy and all that crap? HECK NO.
they clearly did it for the oil.

i like the Arab thoughts We(Iraq) desire this (Shatt Al Arab , larger oil expenses ,Kuwait or despite) .They consequently enter into negotiations wherein they only state -- we are greater effective and better so supply us what we call for -- or we can invade you. So Iraq invades Kuwait, kidnaps, tortures and rapes Kuwaiti voters, in many situations loots the placement, seizes its oil fields and then threatens Saudi Arabia -- and you ask what has that to do with the West or anybody else ? Do you ever ask your self why Arabs/Islam get considered one of these undesirable press around the globe

The Land Letter was a letter sent to President George W. Bush by five evangelical Christian leaders on October 3, 2002 which outlined their theological support for a just war pre-emptive invasion of Iraq. The letter was written by Richard D. Land, president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was co-signed by Chuck Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries, Bill Bright, chairman of Campus Crusade for Christ, James Kennedy, president of Coral Ridge Ministries, and Carl D. Herbster, president of the American Association of Christian Schools.

You neglect that the Founding Fathers invaded Canada right? They failed miserably though.
Saddam Hussein killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. You can't just go up to someone like that and peacefully say, "Will you please stop this violence". You are exactly right - talk is cheap. You cannot sweet talk a brutal dictator. Little economical sanctions will not stop a psychopath. I don't care if he killed them with biological weapons or BB guns, if a leader kills thousands of his own people he has to be removed. I think the UN should have taken care of this long ago, but since they did not do their job we had to become the police of the world.

Yeah. Once you start thinking about it....we either:
1) Don't think the Iraq government/people can negotiate. We don't think peace agreements and apologies about former actions can help at all so we just send our army over there.
or 2) We aren't doing it for anything other than the spread of U.S.-influenced land and for the oil over there.
Neither one makes us look too good.

No, I think it's because it's human nature to be vengeful. Kind of that "you hit me so it's okay for me to hit you back" attitude. Most people.. even people that are in power... react before they think. I'm not sure on your "clearly innocent" approach, but the rest of your point is valid.
