The IRA were terrorists.
The issue in Northern Ireland is political not religious. The media, who is always looking for short cuts and not the whole story, calls the participants Catholics and Protestants.
The conflict is about whether the British territory (probably the wrong word) of Northern Ireland should remain British or should become part of Ireland.
The majority of people in Ireland are Catholics. The majority of people in England and Northern Ireland are Protestants. There are actually Catholics and Protestants on either side.
The terrorists on either side of the issue are not Christian in any sense of the word.

Good piont. I was a born in N. Ireland into a Catholic family. I should be classed as a terrorist.
The sad thing is that many from the British army, and RUC actually did think that way.

Well I class them as terrorists and always will the only good thing to come out of 9/11 was it stopped the IRA in their tracks because they lost most of their monetary support.

IRA just want to have their own territory, not to spread the terror like al-Qaeda did and screamed "jihad, jihad!" like the fools...
i bet they dont even know what does it mean...since they just shout it as their fanatical acts...

because the ira had nothing to do with religion
it was about getting away from british rule
and they didnt scream god is great when doing that stuff
