Hi there, Im 23 years old and have decided to move to Australia in April next year. My only problem is i cant decide where? I have an Aunty in Perth who i could stay with and set up when i first go? I also have family on Gold coast i could sort of do the same with? But then from searching the net job opportunties are better in Brisbane? Also it would be cheaper to fly back to NZ regulary from Brissy/Goldcoast etc? Im quite outgoing and really looking at getting out there and meeting people. My area of job looking would be admin/personal assitant, also any type of insurance work type areas? Any comments would be appreaciated and will help alot....Thanks. Ps: am also wanting to look at investing/buying property there?

Brisbane is a lovely city with friendly people. It is only an hour from the Gold Coast which is a place to visit not to live in unless you like lots of tourists, old people, drunken teenagers and screaming kids. Have a look at the classified adverisements in the Courier Mail on a Saturday for job opportunities and house prices. You should get a feel for the city from the newspaper as well.

Perth is a great place too but its main drawback is that it is so far from anywhere else. Have you considered Sydney? It is a wonderful city with great job opportunities in your area. The papers to look at are the West Australian

I don't know about Perth... but I do know about Brisbane and the Gold Coast. If you're looking for admin/PA jobs then Brisbane would be the best place to go for. There's much more call for that there than on the Gold Coast. Flights back to NZ would also be cheaper from Brisbane.
You could always stay on the Gold Coast until you manage to properly set your routes in Brisbane? It's only about an hour's drive to get there. If you want, you could commute.

You don't make it clear where you are moving from, but since you mention flying back to NZ I assume that's where.

First up I'll point out my bias; I'm from Perth and love the place.

Obviously Brisbane and the Gold Coast are closer to NZ and therefore will be cheaper to travel back to NZ from. Apart from that though, I'm not sure there would be much else to choose between them. I had some kiwi friends living here in Perth who moved to Brisbane mainly because of the cheaper return travel to NZ.

My suggestion would be to head over here on holiday, and check out all three places to see what suits you best. After all, suggestions from another person will be based on what they like which may to totally different to your preferences.

Um. I would say not to move from New Zealand. I moved to nz (nelson) from Sydney and have not looked back since!

But if you really do want to move, then i'll give some advice

Do not, under any circumstances move to Brisbane! Please do not! It is the worst city in Australia after Sydney. Brisbane is scummy and grotty. The traffic is horendus and the people are violent and up-themselves. The houses are old and wooden and country like, yet there in a city. IT IS STUPID! IT SUCKS! Brisbane is full of crime. It even has a section in wikipedia for it! Crime is rising there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Brisbane

Do not move to brisbane it is a hole!

Perth I have never been to, but I heard it's reallly nice

Move to the Gold Coast! Best city in Australia. It is a city yet it is really relaxed!

Everythiong there is so perfect and safe!

Move to the goldcoast. There are lots of new zealanders in Gold coast too.

Gold coast has great night life, really good beaches, and a good climate/ Friendly people too.

Go to the gold coast. No real scummy areas there, exept Nerang. Spent a bit of time working on the Gold Coast and did not want to leave.

Even for some weird reason, if you do like brisbane , gold coast is only a 50 min drive from it.

Hope this has helped

thoroughly believe Ozmaniac, in fact I stay out that way myself! The communities out right here have a genuine small united states of america city feeling with out the insular feeling that countless them get. Rosewood is fantastically outstanding in that that is between the few last cities in South East Queensland to be so close to to Brisbane and nevertheless have considered one of these reliable small united states of america city custom. you will normally see a blue livestock canine tied up beside a motorbike outdoors the pub on an identical time as his proprietor is on the bar having a rapid drink, in case you will walk down the optimal highway at Rosewood enable lots of time as there is usually human beings combating to talk. Rosewood is likewise interior the foothills of the mountains so which you do no longer would desire to return and forth a good distance for some off highway adventuring. in fact we normally would desire to take the four wheel force whilst vacationing as a number of our pals stay off airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust roads and their driveways get fantastically impassable after rain! Suburbs/cities to look at that i like are Rosewood, Walloon, Thagoona (locality between Rosewood and Walloon) and Fernvale. perhaps Marburg or Lowood. they're basically somewhat further out which will lead them to particularly too a good distance. Esk, Grandchester and Laidley additionally are severe-high quality yet i might somewhat place them on the too a long thank you to return and forth record.
