They have probably been doing it since THE DAWN OF... the R&S section! They invent new stuff every week, Oh well if you can't beat 'em join 'em, I may as well quote from the bible just because I know it will annoy you, "The new testinent, Chapter four, paragraph two, third sentence down, ninth word in from the left" And I quote "THE". As soon as I learn of more of the bible or altenitively find some kind of online bible I can copy and paste from, Expect more where this came from!

It has always been there. The term rapture is new but the idea is not. It existed long before jesus came along, jesus taught it and hundreds have rambled on about it since. There is an excellent list of all those who have predicted the rapture, end time, the apocalypse, what ever you want to call it.

It is nothing new... not at all.
The plague, the Mongol invasion, eclipses, dates of significance, coinciding events/dates, failed prophecies/translations of the Bible, famine, wars, terrorism, natural disasters, etc...
It's not exclusive to Christianity, either. Whether you call it Ragnarok, Armageddon, or rapture; it's all baloney. While I agree we may be on the right path towards ending the world, we have the power also to correct it, providing something happens which we have no control over... Hmmm.

They've been doing it from the beginning. There's even a line or two in the Bible that says something along the lines of "The end of times is near!"

the idea of the rapture was invented by a 19th century Plymouth Brethren preacher. It is not mentioned by the Reformers or the Early Church Fathers. It is a highly skewed interpretation that has been taken for gospel by some imaginative individuals.
EDIT: thanks for the thumbs down! please email me with a reference to the rapture earlier than the 19th century! ;-)

Its ongoing but foolish, ignore it, the bible says no man can predict the time nor date of the second coming.
Best not to worry about things that God says man can't do.
Otherwise you may want to look into getting saved.
God bless!

Ever since Jesus told His disciples that He would come again, we (Christians) have been anticipating His return.
God bless!
