I had recently been to an eye test and it was discovered I had myopia of the order of L -2.75 R -3.0, with very minute astigmatism. The optician has advised me to wear spectacles all the time. Do I really have to wear them all the time ot just during TV/driving? I dont get any headaches without them but just everything appears blur. Please advise.

Wear the glasses or get contacts. It's far better to see clearly, than suffer the slight inconvenience of wearing glasses.

Speak to the Optometrist; eye doctor, an optician is a salesperson that can suggest styles of frames and lens materials; fill the Doctor's prescription, suggest and fit eyeglass frames and type of lens for the glasses and can dispense contact lenses with a prescription.

Myopia is the medical terminology for nearsightedness, not being able to see things at a distance. Headaches generally occur after wearing new glasses or new prescription until your eyes adjust to the correction.

If you are driving and everything is blurry, then for the sake of safety of yourself and others, wear them!

I firmly go against the majority of the opinions here.
Provided you make yourself legal by using them for driving, what you do the rest of the time is nobody's business but your own.
You are not putting your eyes at risk by wearing or not wearing them.
(Unless you are under about 15, and have binocular vision issues. That's about the only real exception class)

"Most people with such a prescription would be wearing it most or all of the time." is as far as the optometrist should go, normally.

Hi,ill go against everyone not wearing your glasses will not make your eyesight worse,in fact wearing them constantly may worsen your sight.the cillary muscles (focusing)need to be used/exercised ,wearing glasses constantly this isn't happening as much as it should- your eyes are mainly relying on the glasses to move the focal point. Try a pair of pinhole glasses and some focusing exercises you might find your prescription will lower over time not worsen,as what some myopic people find

My eyesight is as bad as yours L -2.75 R -3.0 (what a coincidence). I won't survive without glasses or contacts. You'd need them all the time (except when sleeping or showering). If you don't wear them, your retina contracts too hard in an attempt to see better and this will affect your optic nerves. Don't you have migraine when you don't wear them? I do.

I wear glasses all the time too and i can't see far away either. If you are afraid of what people think of you, then ask your optometrist for contact lenses . That way you can just wear your glasses at home.

If your optician advises to wear them all the time, then you should do.

I wear glasses all the time, cos I'm blind as a bat without them. Glasses have become more fashionable nowadays

I don't know how you can stand not wearing your glasses all of the time! my eyesight is -1.5 in both eyes, i used to wear glasses but I have just had a contact lense trial and they are brilliant if you don't like the idea of wearing glasses all of the time.

I have worse vision (-5, -3), and I wear corrective lense only when driving, reading, or watching tv. It hasn't affected my vision in over 15 years.

If you advised to wear them all the time, then I would do so.
Not wearing them, and things seem blurry can actually do more damaged.
I learnt my lesson that way (and for going cross-eyed all the time!)
Its not a bad thing to wear glasses either.
