The drinking age and the driving age should both be 18. And you should lose your license for life if you're convicted of drunk driving. It's an effective law in the places where it's used.

The driving age should be left at 16. However I would suggest that no hardships are allowed to lower the age and that the drivers are limited to no driving after 9:00 PM until they are 18. Drivers 16 to 18 are the highest risk group of all. I really don't understand the drinking age being at 21. It used to be 18 for beer and wine many years ago. I do feel that a college kid at 18 and a potential soldier should be able to drink. While I sort of agree with you on the DWI, I think that you should have one chance. In my case I have never had anything more than a speeding ticket and I would have to drive back from a sportbar on Sunday afternoon and blow a .008 and get one year in jail.
I think that you should be punished and you should have one chance, a year in jail is a little severe for a first time offender with no other criminal record.

Besides being a bit harsh with the 1-year sentance, we don't even have close the resorces available to enforce a 1-year jail sentance on the first dwi. I've worked in an ED (emergency department) in the hospital and I've seen couple people coming in on their 8th even 10th dwi and those are the people who shouldn't be out and about.
The second problem I see with enforcing the 1-year sentance, I know we are mature adults, but unfortunately more than a few 16-21 year olds are not as mature Of course there a number of young adults that are mature at that age, but many are not. And yes they will make many stupid decisions, and unfortunately when you mix immaturity and alcohol death will happen at any age.
I believe if you go into the armed service and serve you "earn" the right to drink. But I don't think the universal age for drinking should be lowered for just because. If there is sufficient accredited research that supports lowering the age then I'm all for it. But until that happens I'd be a little cautious about being an advocate.

I'm not against the driving ages in Arizona. I think sixteen is reasonable enough to get your permit. However I think its insane that in N. Dakota my cousin got his permit at fourteen. I know there's only a two year difference but fourteen year olds should be worried about.. I dunno! Fourteen year old things.
Drinking however; kids start drinking when they're sixteen anyways. I dont think it should be lowered to sixteen but I'm saying eighteen and the reason I like eighteen is because:
In America (because thats where I live and thats the only government I know.) Draft is 18 years old (for war) and I think if your old enough to defend where you live, you are old enough to make "grown up decisions" such as drinking. Also at eighteen you are considered an adult, you can move out and pay bills and have a job and in some cases you've already graduated from college! So if eighteen year olds (some not all) can be that grown up. They should be able to drink.
:)))
Awesome question BTW I'm not sure I answered along your specific lines. But those are my thoughts on drinking and driving age limits and laws.

if they drink at home and at home only i do not care for the age... but if they start driving that is another story.... preferably the legal drinking age shouldnt be until 25 (unless at home and not going anywhere,, at no age should you drive anywhere after drinking).. and the driving age should be 18... i was young once and i did not see a problem with any of this, but now since i am older i do.. if a person shows they are responsible enough to drive under he age of 18 they should be permitted a drive to work and school license...

I got my license at 15, drinking age legally was 20
Dont drink & drive, you might spill the beer)lol)
I have seen the damage drink/drive can do. Its better to walk and arrive home late then never arrive at all
The people my older kids(19 -23) hang out with always have a sober driver, they alternate each weekend. They look after each other
