Indoor cats are NOT safe from fleas. This is a myth I would REALLY love to stamp out.
Fleas can enter your house as easily as any bug - they just walk in! Furthermore, they are attracted by the presence of body heat and vibrations caused by movement (which actually stimulates their eggs to hatch) so they are even more likely than any other bug to enter - they're looking for a meal.
Fleas are common year round, not just in the summer. They're more likely to move in to your house as the weather gets colder, because your house is war, unlike outside.
You need to treat your cats with some proper stuff, i.e from a vets. Do NOT use anything from a pet store - the sooner this dangerous and ineffective stuff is taken off the shelves, the better. Pick up some Frontline or Revolution or anything else the vet provides, and just make sure it gets on the skin of the animal, not the fur. And you need some spray for your house too, because this is where 95% of the flea population is.

RE:
Fleas on indoor cats!?
Why do my cats have fleas if they are indoor cats? Is it possible they came in through the screen window? And why are they just now getting fleas as fall is starting? They didn't have any the whole summer.

Did you know that the one thing people don't do when it comes to fleas, it clean the enviroment the cat lives in? The fleas are not just all over the cat. They are on the floor, on the furniture, on the carpet, etc. You need to get a pet friendly indoor flea spray and do a number on your place. Put your cats in another room while you do each room and give each room time to dry.

indoor cats can get fleas from someone entering your home from outside ,also there are diffrent types of fleas ;sand fleas grass fleas ect...and wheather or not your friends have animals or their friends have animals that they may have come in contact with .needless to say they could of got fleas from anyone and as far as summer without fleas or fall with fleas ,they come and go in cycles and your cats probablly comeinto contact with whatever and in this case the wrong time .get ridof them asap if youhave carpet cause yor home will be a breeding ground for the little critters and that is all bad.good luck

You unknowingly probably brought the fleas in the house with you. The best thing to do is go to your vet and pick up some frontline. This works very well and lasts for a full month. Its a topical spot-on that you put on your cats backs. You can also ask for something safe to treat your home with. But honestly I have never had to treat my home, because the frontline takes care of it for me. I love the stuff, definently worth it.

cats are born with fleas and because the weather is getting a bit warmer the fleas eggs are starting to hatch.also fleas can lay there eggs in the carpet and now they will latch onto your cats.you should bath your cats and get some indoor flea powder for your carpet.

its possible that the fleas came in from someware, but fleas usually live in carpet areas you need to really keep cleaning the carpets with a good pet carpet cleaner, and to keep the fleas from being on your cat, crush up a little piece of garlic and mix it in with the food,it will not harm your cat,its a natural way to keep the fleas off of your cat(it workes for mine)...
and fleas are worse in the cold weather not in summer.
good luck

Just a thought, have you ever had mice? They can carry them in. They also can jump on you when you are in the grass and you can carry them in.
