how much of ram is needed if im gonna use windows vista ultimate 1 gb or 2 gb tnx i appreciate ur suggestion

1GB but 1.5 GB or 2 GB is better if you are going to run games, Photoshop or need to store lots of documents.
A+'s answer is very precise. I recently purchased a laptop
512 MB & had to upgrade the memory for better speed and more flexibility. Vista sucks up a lot of RAM.

You can run it with 1GB of Ram and still be able to run most programs with out any problem ex. Command & Conquer 3

if ur using windows vista i would suggest 2gb ram

The minumum is 512MB but I would suggest 1GB or more.
