I've been looking at questions about Christianity that indicate a real and total blank slate of the Truth. Although I can understand the confusion with 30,000 different denominations all writing their own rules, does anyone wonder why the only ones who really have their theology and beliefs at their fingertips AND are confident about it are Catholic? Why do you think that Catholics know the answers so well? And, why is it that NON-Catholics seem to define who they are simply by saying how *not* Catholic they are. I am seeing MANY who define what they believe by simply pointing out what they don't believe of the Catholic faith. But, does that show us what nonCatholics believe? No! Does anyone understand that ignorance of what Catholics believe might be the root of the problem? To assume to know only makes an "a ss" out of "u" and "me". Can anyone say what they believe in their own particular denomination, without saying what they DON'T believe?

As person with a catholic background I have come across this anti-catholic attitude. My aunt, a baptist said to me with no intention to be rude that catholics arn't christian. But since I have endevoured to move past things that devide Gods children I have left behind any real attachment to any one religion. From this vantage point it is easy to see the behavior as a defense mechinism that is dealing with a group or belief that is different than your own. And most people are not capable of accepting other peoples beliefs with out fear of damaging their own. Humans seem to need to build their faith and self-respect on the backs of their neighbors who don't offer the validation they expext to get.
But those of us who are truly interested in doing what God would have us do must do every thing we can to avoid feeling any other emotion for the people that hold differing beliefs than that of love and compassion. As a former self-ritious attacker, I took great joy in my ability to prove to people how little they new about their own faith and the history of the bible and how other religions were saying exactly the same things hundreds of years before, and so on. But just because you can knock someone down is not a reason to do it. Now I find great pleasure in bringing up the same knowledge but in a way that does no harm to them or their beliefs. I seek to help them build their faith not convert them to mine.
As to what I believe: I believe God is a verb not a noun. To serve God we need to serve others. An ounce of service is worth a lifetime of rituals. I believe we are all on the same path some just walk faster than others and it is not anyones job to drag anyone else along the path, God will be there when we are ready or God is ready. And the last thing I believe is that to find happiness you have to strip away as many outside influences as you can. The less you have to be responible for and the less you desire the closer you will be to God.

whoa lil missy, calm down and take a breather. yes i can say what i believe w/out saying what i don't believe. what answers do catholics know so well? probably the same answers that other ppl do. there is alot i don't agree with as far as catholic belief, but i know that doesn't mean I'm right and your wrong or vice versa, it just means we don't agree. you wanna hear my beliefs? here they go. 1) Jesus is Christ
2) He died and rose again 3 days later
3)spiritual gifts are not just for the disciples but for us today.
4)baptism does not save you, but you do it in obedience to the Lord.
5)you can lose your salvation.
6)your faith and His grace is why your saved, not cause of your good deeds.
7)there is a rapture, even though the "word" rapture is not mention.
8)God's children will not be here during the tribulation. I'm grounded in these beliefs w/out a chance of wavering.

I am not a Catholic, but I frequently use the Vatican web site as a resource, because (as you say) Catholics have some of the best answers. Since they have it almost right it and are so well known, it is so easy to just state the few differences. Such as:
Celibacy of priests/Priesthood of believers
Appearance of idol worship
Emphasis on Mary
Roman Church's authority

I do not believe you are talking to CHRISTIANS. Christians are non-denominational. Christians are a part of the Body of Christ. That is why we are called CHRISTians. The Body of Christ is the Family of God. The Family of God is the Bride of Christ. The Bride of Christ is the Church of God. The Church of God, is one body and one Spirit governs the mind of the family members.

The word Catholic means UNIVERSAL, and in that right, the Christian Church is Catholic. Our separation is based upon the doctrinal position of the "Roman Catholic" order of the ecclemenical church. That is the root of the problem. And that is why Martin Luther began the PROTESTant movement. Luther loved the Church, he only wanted her to REFORM her position before God and the people.

I would in love suggest you read the Book of John, and reform or revise your concepts.

Faulty theology, with a little bit of personal insecurity thrown in on the part of the one who believes in the faulty theology. It's that simple.

Any theology that requires the tearing down of another theology to validate itself is a theology that leaves a lot to be desired.

A solid theology can stand on it's own, not requiring the bashing of competing theologies.

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior. I believe that if I believe in Jesus I am going to go to heaven. I believe there is an absolute truth and Jesus Christ is the way the truth and the life John 14:6. I believe in the father son and the holy ghost. I believe that the bible is a guide to life. I believe we should try to live like the bible tells us to as much as possible. I believe that abortion is wrong (murder), I believe gay marriage is wrong, I believe evolution is a joke, and I believe that all the answers to these questions are in the bible. I believe that we don't get into heaven by our good works, but by the grace of God. I believe every Christian should attend church. I believe in sex after marriage. I believe in only dating people who are evenly yolked. I believe we should live our lives for the purpose of Godliness and strive to be like Jesus. I believe in many other things but these are some I put down for you. I hope you got something out of it God bless.

For Christmas a pair years in the past, my oldest boy requested me to jot down out the Lords Prayer in Ukrainian - truthfully, within the English language approximation of Ukrainian sounds, however you get the suggestion.. He don't need to have troubled considering the fact that God speaks each languages, and He's already heard that prayer earlier than. But the little bubba did that to honor his Grandmother, my Mom. She additionally did not technically want the interpretation seeing that she's a polyglot, and has heard it earlier than as good.. The entire factor of him making that tape used to be to honor her, the identical approach I attempt to honor participants of the everlasting Church while I pray in Latin. In the identical approach, you might honor reminiscences of your father through doing the ones prayers in Latin. Language issues, even though those dim-bulbs listed below are too dumb to determine it out.
