i'd say a dog from the pound that is cute and cuddly and is stated to be a bulldog pug mix and grows up to be a pitbull boxer mix.

Firstly, the dogs appearance must appeal to you before anything.Deciding on a breed is somewhat hard. Alot of factors need to be considered first. Do you have the yard space, do you have kids?, can you excerise the dog regularly depending on breed, do you want a hybrid (mix) or pure bred, geesh there is so much to research on dog breeds. Try
www.dogbreedinfo.com for selection on all breeds. here u can look at dogs that you find appealing and read about the breed in general terms. My suggestion for large all rounded heathly sound temperment breeds are; Golden Retrievers,German Shepards,German Short Haired Pointer and bernese mountain dog. Small breeds; Beagle,Welsh Corgi, chinese Shar pei and say a Poodle.
Its really what you like. Most breeds will make a great pet. Its you as the owner who will shape it character from puppyhood to adulthood.Just fall in love with what attracts you and make sure you can provide the living space and lifestyle the dog needs. Best of luck to you.

any, as long as it comes from a reliable source, you've heard the saying it's not the dog it's the owner and how true it is.
you can get a good dog from a shelter or if you want a pedigree make sure it comes from a long term registered breeder who will allow you to see the pups with their dam and be willing to show you all the paperwork necessary to prove that its all legit.
i have a Doberman, a dalmatian, and a cross breed, and they all make great family pets, they are ace with kids, but the kids also understand and know that they are dogs with feelings and not toys.
any breed can be a good dog, as i'm sure many people on here will tell you, it's just how you bring them up, and allow them time to adapt.

There is no best breed generally. So much depends on your lifestyle, living conditions and activity level that it's best to consult breed standards or a dog expert who knows you and your family situation. Obviously, an Irish Setter isn't that great of a choice for someone in a wheelchair since they need to run a lot and a Bassett Hound isn't a wonderful choice for a person who jogs daily.

The reason there are so many different breeds of dogs is because they each fill a different purpose.. and each breed was formed because someone likes it, and it is the best dog for them. I, myself choose pit bulls over any breed, but you may not like them at all. Just research before you buy so that you can decide based on knowledge, not looks.

It depends on what kind of dog you are looking for, in tems of temperament, trainability, and personality, as well as which one would best fit your lifestyle, because no one dog breed is the best breed for everybody to have.

Oh my, I absolutely LOVE my Golden Retriever and If I could pick any dog, it would be a golden retrieve, believe it or not we use to have a male lhaso apso (Similair to a ****-zu) who ended up mating with our golden retriever and she had 12 pups!
small dog + big dog = Strange babies !!! LOL
Only the babies were absolutely A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E!! We kept one becuase it was so cute but gave away the lhaso apso later on becuase he was WAY to yippy :+(
So over all, GOLDEN RETRIEVER :)
My friend had a Yorkie but it's so hyper you can't hol it! But on the other hand I know someone else who a Yorkie that is just an angel but I still sticking with the golden :)

whichever breed best fits your lifestyle. Someone who wants a jogging buddy would do best to get a lab, husky, dalmation etc.. but a pug would be a poor choice for them.
