I mean if God is real I don't need faith or belief. I know he exists. Therefore I simply need to follow the rules and huppla I get to heaven.
I kind of makes faith irrelevant in religion when God is a fact.
I don't need faith in Mathematics when I add 1+1 because I know the answer is only two.
I don't need faith in physics or chemistry because I know when I plug in the variables then the answer will be the same.
Religion relies on faith but so many religious people simply don't realise that they don't need it when they talk of how God is real and the proof is in the Bible.

The point is people that we faith is belief without proof. Faith doesn't need proof yet Christians all say that the Bible is proof. The two don't fit.
When I know a fact I don't need faith in it. I don't need belief in it. I simply know it to be true and can move on.

Kaden K 1+1 in binary does equal two. It is simply a different way of expressing it.
That is simply the language.
Wie geht's dir in German is the same as how is going or how are you - sure they don't look the same but the meaning is the same.

s7lmb God certainly did command us to believe in him.
I am the Lord your God... you shall have no other Gods before me.
He then went on to tell us not to believe in other false Gods because he is a jealous God.

US_DR_JD, the difference between belief that I exist and God exists, is that we could meet and you could see me for all that I am. You can't e-mail God and arrange to meet him.
You are right, you're logic is extremely stretched.

Well, then I guess we can also say that the marvel comic books are the proof that Superman and Batman exists also.
Good news :-)

FROM NOTHING COMES NOTHING I know that it is insulting to your intelligence, but some people today are saying that the Universe evolved from nothing. However, if there ever had been a time when absolutely nothing existed, then there would be nothing now, because it always is true that nothing produces nothing. If something exists now, then something always has existed. THE BIBLE SPEAKS ABOUT THE CAUSE The Bible certainly is not silent about what caused the Universe. The first verse of the first chapter of the first book it says: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.” Acts 17:24 records: “God, who made the world and everything in it…He is Lord of heaven and earth.” Exodus 20:11 notes: “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them.” • God is undoubtedly an adequate cause, since He is all-powerful. In Genesis 17:1, God told Abraham “I am Almighty God.” • He came before this material world, fulfilling the criteria that the cause must come before the effect. The psalmist wrote: “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psalm 90:2). • And He definitely would instill within mankind the concept of morality, since He is a God of morals. Titus 1:2 says that He cannot lie. Only God fits the criteria of an adequate cause that came before the Universe. WHY DOES GOD NOT HAVE A CAUSE? If we contend that every material effect must have a cause, and we say that only God could have caused the Universe, then the obvious question is: “What caused God?” Doesn’t the law of cause and effect apply to God, too? There is a single word in the law of cause and effect that helps provide the answer to this question—the word material. Every material effect must have a cause that existed before it. Scientists formulated the law of cause and effect based upon what they have observed while studying this Universe, which is made out of matter. No science experiment in the world can be performed on God, because He is an eternal spirit, not matter (John 4:24). Science is far from learning everything about this material world, and it is even farther from understanding the eternal nature of God. There had to be a First Cause, and God was (and is) the only One suitable for the job. CONCLUSION The law of cause and effect is a well-established law that does not have any known exceptions. It was not conjured up from the creationists’ magic hat to prove the existence of God (although it does that quite well). The evidence is sufficient to show that this material Universe needs a non-material cause. That non-material Cause is God. If natural forces created the Universe, randomly selecting themselves, then morality in humans never could be explained. Why is this Universe here? Because “in the beginning, God….”

First, you should understand what is faith all about. define faith first and seek the true faith coming from God.
your faith will be tested if you believe in holy Bible... what you have now is belief not faith.
you believe that God exist because there is a Bible. what about the time of first people? like Eva and Adan? what about the time of Moises? Those time, bible is not yet existed. Faith is not like Math, Physics, or Chemistry that you can test and get a result by your senses. Faith is something without proof or evidence but you know it is there...

Belief is simply being convinced about something there is no obvious general evidence for. The bible isn't proof, rather a collection of stories about faith viewed as fact by certain people. Plus the bible is just one account.
There are others - the most obvious today perhaps being the Qur’ān - who ever questions the validity of that? The Qur’ān is supposed to be the "correct" version of what Judaism and Christianity got wrong.
Faith doesn't just apply to religion though. I'm a great fan of science but many, many people accept what scientists say in good faith - they believe in science without actually looking at any evidence themselves. Human caused global warming is a very good example of this.
Science has obviously shown itself to be vulnerable to politics in this case but how many people just believe what they are told? To me that is very similar to religion.

How can you prove that the bible is truthful though, that is the only problem.
I am christian, so yes, I believe God exists, but I cannot prove that the bible is true or that he exists, even though I believe, so thus I have faith.
Also:
1 + 1 in binary doesn't equal 2, so 1 + 1 therefore doesn't always equal 2.

If you go just by the Bible itself, you find all those contradictions and all those places where it is contrary to accepted scientific facts. That's partly because it was written so long ago, and partly because it was written by so many different people.
In order to conclude that the Bible is in fact the word of God, faith is required. You can't do it with logic or reason, because logic and reason will lead you to believe the Bible is not the exactly transcribed Word of God.
So look at what faith is: belief in the absence of evidence, or even in the face of evidence to the contrary. It is simply a fact that the Bible will not hold up to examination without faith. Without faith, it is a confused jumble of writings of men long, long ago, translated and interpreted over and over again.

Faith is trust in a person, gained from previous experiences. For instance I have faith in my grandpa because I know that his advice is good. I have faith in my brother because he repays debts he owes to me. I have faith in my dad who has loved me even though I have messed up a lot. I trust these people because they have been honorable and trustworthy in the past. In the same way I have faith in God because God has never forsaken me.
You don't have "faith" in things that do not exist. I do not say "I have faith that my garbage bag will hold garbage", that is just nuts. I don't say "I have faith that the door will open when I turn the knob".
Faith is the trust we have in people (or God), not faith in objects. For instance I don't have faith in the plane, I have faith in the engineers who made it. Why do I have that faith? Because I have stepped out onto a plane several times in my life and each time the plane carried me from A to B safely. In the same way when you take a step of faith to trust in God, either it will crash and you will never have faith, or you will get from point A to B and you will have faith. Faith is earned. You do not just say, "I have faith becuase there is no evidence and no other answer". Faith is the most tested, positive conclusion you can make in someone. When you truly trust someone, you will even reach a state where you have blind faith in them. You can give them everything you have and trust them not to betray you. So blind faith is the highest kind of faith, the most solid kind of faith, the surest form of trust.

Faith is defined as in the Bible as 'The assured expectation of things hoped for though not yet beheld".
You need faith God is real because He is the only real hope for this world, because human rulers have already shown themselves to be failures in attaining world peace, curing disease, sloving world poverty and hunger etc.

Pensterx,
You seem to believe you exist. I have no proof of that.
As a matter of act, the only proof I see is written words and words inspired by you, from which I am supposed to have faith you exist. If you are real, as I assume you feel yourself to be, then your words must be proof, ergo, God's word must be proof of his existence.
A simple exercise in logic. Though maybe I stretch the point a little.

Let’s say someone told you he’s a billionaire. But he dresses very poorly and drives an old lemon. But the truth is, he really is. There’s proof that he is a billionaire, but you haven’t checked out the proof yourself yet. Do you need faith to believe him? Yes.

Hebrews states:
11:6 So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (NLT)
That is why. Basically because he said so. God give us plenty so that we can say we have a "reasonable faith". However, we must step out and believe that which we can't prove or we will not receive what has been promised by God.
