The tower in babylon explains that. they built a tower to get to heaven instead of working to earn it and God punished them for by making different languages and changing the color of their skin.

Wow. Most of you are idiots. And some of your are correct, it isn't a theory...but not in the way you're thinking. A theory has be to backed up by certain facts or evidence. Different races were most likley the cause of evolution taking place in different environments around the world. For example: Africans would have darker skin do to millions of years of over exposure to the sun. Creationism is flawed! It boggles my mind that any adult would believe in it. It has to be literal that GOD created just Adam and Eve directly. You can't debate by saying that the Bible never states that they were the only two. If you did that, then how could you take the whole bible literally like most Christians do? Jesus walked on water...impossible. The bible is full of metephors that we might not understand now, since 2,000 years ago, lingo and dialog was much different. For example: Jesus turned water into wine, right? Couldn't that mean he took what he had, and made the most out of something...maybe his life perhaps? Hmm...kinda makes sense, doesn't it? Creationism is a form of brainwash. Obviously if your parents raise you with it starting at when you're a baby, it'll most likley be burned into your brain for your whole life. I hate how creationists will deny any proof or evidence against their flawed beliefs. I also hate it when someone says that evolution isn't proven. WTF? Both macro and micro evolution has been proven. Do some research or be more specific. Obviously no one can prove human evolution 100% because we can travel back in time 4 billion years and document each year up to 2007. LOL! However, you can prove creationism wrong...simply by using common biology, physics, and modern geography.

well, there are answers to this. i'm not saying they're GOOD answers, but they're enough to convince many people. generally speaking, it's supposed that adam and eve contained within them a large variety of genes, which is technically not impossible by itself (as i said, this is enough for many people). these ideas run counter to other ideas about adam and eve being perfect (to the extent that it's possible to decipher what 'perfect' means), there is very little in the way of evidence to support them, and anyway there was not enough time for genetic recombination to produce the variety we see today. it's a little like creationists are saying that we could have had all the playing cards in the deck right at the start, but even so there is no way they could have been shuffled so fast that we see the patterns we do now.
failing any non-miraculous explanation, they can of course always invoke miracles. so they can explain anything...
"in fact, every single person alive today is descended from a single woman in africa who lived a hundred and fifty thousand years ago."
this is roughly true if i recall correctly, but incomplete and could be misleading. there is no reason to suppose that she was ALONE. there were probably thousands of others alive at the time, it is just that none of them have living descendants today. this sort of situation is inevitable as time progresses. analyses of human genetic diversity suggest that the population size hasn't dropped below about a thousand individuals for a hundred thousand years, even in the most dire catastrophes.

So, do you think that humans evolved independently from one another? It seems like that theory would suggest that some races are superior to others...
A common ancestry is not peculiar to the Bible. The Biblical account allows for genetic diversity and races to arise, and specifically discusses this after the flood, with the children of Noah. It's possible that Noah had unmentioned daughters, too. The Bible doesn't always tell the whole story.
As I read the Bible, there are certain sections that seem detailed and certain sections that seem more general. Most of it seems to have a first-person, historical feel to it. The Adam-Eve account does not. This makes sense, since this information was somehow communicated to Moses and recorded. Moses wasn't in the garden. Therefore, it seems likely that however it was communicated to Moses, that it may have been simplified for his benefit. It had to be communicated in human language, and languages don't have words for things that are foreign to them. Imagine if you were given a vision of the year 3032, and asked to write about it... Ditto if you were shown a vision of the dawn of human history.
Therefore, it's easy for me to meld the world of science and Scripture. I don't examine each verse in Genesis and try to form scientific conclusions based on the writings of someone who may not have fully understood it all himself -- Moses. God may have shielded certain facts from Moses, since they weren't relevant. Now, does evolution provide an answer for how life could have first arisen? I don't think so. It's a lot easier to believe in an uncreated original Designer, than to think this all came about by chance. But as far as how different species came about, etc., then natural selection makes good sense.
If that doesn't answer your question, I'll give it another go... Adam & Eve are the first two. They give birth to a bunch, who intermarry with their siblings, and thanks to the genetic perfection at the time it doesn't cause problems. Gradually people become more and more sinful. Due to the incredibly long lifespans (again, the great genes), they are able to commit a TON of sins. We're talking Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Jeffrey Dahmer, etc. So God weans them down to Noah, his boys, his daughters in law (and I'm suggesting, sons in law and daughters). These groups have sufficient genetic diversity to result in the races we have today. Even if they were remarkably similar, how do you think THEY got that way? Genetic mutations result in diversity.
Btw, the Tower of Babel had to do with linguistic diversity after the flood, not racial diversity.

Any understanding of biology, genetics, evolution, astronomy, or cosmology kills that story (not a good idea to call it a theory, which in science is actually backed by evidence -- adam and eve, like all creation stories, go against facts that were not obvious to our ancestors).

It's easier for religious people to believe God had a magic wand and said "Presto" and instantly Adam came out of nowhere, the Presto again and Eve came from Adam's rib.
But it's funny they just can't fathom the thought of evolution.
To top if off, they think they'll go to hell if they dont' believe in God's "Presto" theory.
I believe in evolution, but I believe the world's continents used to all be one big land that broke off to form several contents.
If you look at a globe, you can see how the lands look like they could all fit back together like a big puzzle. Perhaps the animals and people broke off with the land masses.

lol. you DO know that every "race" on earth evolved from africans, right? because your question implies that you believe that there has never been a time when caucasians, asians, hispanics, native americans, indians, and all those other races did not exist. i feel obligated to inform you that this is not true, and that the modern races only exist as a result of early human's spreading to different climates. human beings have common ancestors. in fact, every single person alive today is descended from a single woman in africa who lived a hundred and fifty thousand years ago.

Take the genetic research Malaki speaks of and consider different lineages of early man developed but did not survive. Only homo-sapiens survived. That line can be called "Adam". Race develops in adaptation to geography.

If you think that kills the Adam and Eve story it absolutely destroys Evolution.
What do you think? One chimp species in Europe evolved into the French, another chimp species evolved into the Russians, another chimp species evolved into Koreans, another into Chinese, another into Incan, another into Mayan, another into Zulu, another into Egyptian, another into Malaysian, another into Japanese, another into Indian, another into Spanish. Each heritage had its own chimp that evolved into a homosapien, all around the same time around the world?
I'd say this kills Evolution far quicker then it kills Adam and Eve. At least Adam and Eve could have been different colors. But do you expect that chimps from Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and America all evolved into homosapien factions all at the same time? You would have to have like 75,000 different kinds of primates evolving into different races of homosapiens all within a 3,000 period.
