Are you talking about bringing in the pug? Either way introduce them to each other in a controlled way. make sure you have the dog held. I think you will have more of a problem getting the dog used to being indoors. The cats will not be happy and even if they get along. you still may have a chase now and then. just take control and introduce them to each other. See how that goes. You will possibly see that the cats are more ticked than the dog. If it is the bigger dog then sounds that it is trying to make sure everyone knows it is the boss. that needs to be nipped in the bud now. You are sending the wrong message to the big dog. evaluate what and how you react around the two dogs. Watch the dog whisperer.

YES! But, you must take the role of the pack leader. The cats will notice this when you are controlling the pug. Also, the cats need somewhere vertical to escape the dog. My cat and dog play, but sometimes the cat doesn't want to be bothered, so I have one of those towers the cat can climb up a lay in.
Anyway, you set the rules and control the behavior (mostly with the dog) and everyone will get along.
P.S. I have games that both pets like. The dog likes the cat's feather stick and they both like to chase the laser light.
I almost forgot-- the litter box will attract the dog's curiosity. You may have to move it !!!

Another P.S. Are you exercising the mastiff? A big dog needs to work off some of that energy. Could the pug be sending the wrong sinals of dominate behavior, and the mastiff is responding? Either way, exercise both dogs and you must be the dominate pack leader-- both of them must understand you are top dog.

Your dog may or may not but you also have to think about your cats , will they warm up to the dog too? Pugs can be very playful and sometimes the cats may not like this;the cat can do more damage to your Pug than your Pug can do to the cat. Make sure to watch their claws and the Pug's eyes. Introduce slowly. Hold the pug in your hands, firmly, and let the cats sniff him. Notice how the dog and the cats react to each other, initially. If all goes well then its safe for him to be inside,Just makes sure for the first couple of months you surpervise them whenever they are together at ALL times.

Dogs and cats can learn to get along with each other as long as the owner does it properly. Just introduce the animals to each other, let them check each other out, and be prepared to remove one or both the animals if they show any sign of aggressiveness. Keep repeating this pattern until they get used to each other. My parents always had both dogs and cats in the house and they got along pretty well. I remember one cat actually seemed to fall in love with the dog. They were both fixed but it was a male cat and a female dog. The cat would go up to the dog and rub against her legs. The dog would just stand there and let the cat do it. There was never any growling or threatening movements. She just stood there. She was about three times his size.

It is possible get them used to each other slowly. My Dogs love my cat, my st. bernard actually sleeps with the cat in the crook of her neck. Even if they don't get along the cats will let your dog know not to come near them and they will stay out of eachothers way. If problems do arise then separate them and try again slower.
