I have been in the animal field for a long time, and sometimes, yes you can get an idea from the paws of the dog. Sometimes. But that is not something to depend on! I've seen German Shepherd puppies with small paws grow to be 100 pounds. So where you can sometimes get an idea by the paws, your best bet is trying to figure out what kind of dog it is, or what kind of mix it is and researching to see what size those breeds get. Other then that, the size of the parents would help, but I assume you don't have that information. If it's a larger breed dog around 3 months old it will start to gain about 10 pounds a month. If not you'll see much slower growth.
I hope these answers help! Good luck to you!

A couple of ways. first you can go on line and check out the breed. Next you can take a look at the parents. That will give you an idea. Females are usually smaller than males. People look at the paws on on dog. Big paws, big dog. Mixed breed dogs are a little harder to say. depends on the mix. If part of the dog is great dane then you will get a large dog in some form.

You can't tell how big a mutt puppy will be as an adult unless you've seen both his parents. But there are a few things you can do to get a rough idea.
The size of the paws -- a pup with big paws is likely to grow to be a big dog.
How much extra skin he has -- a puppy with lots of loose skin will probably grow fairly big, because he has to grow into all that skin.
The "double it" formula -- weigh him at 14 weeks and then double it to get his approximate adult weight.
Hope that helps!

You get a best guess on the breed and search to see how big they get.
A lot of people say that if the dog has large paws as a puppy she'll grow up to be a big dog.

You can sort of go by the size of the paws. If the paws seem large in relation to the body, chances are it will become a big dog. However, if they look small, then the dog will probably remain that way, too.
