What type of doctor should I go see for the shingles? I've gone to my GP, and I'm beginning to believe he's a total quack for many reasons, which I won't go into b/c I've already gotten tons of answers on another question on those issues. Anyway, is there a specific type of specialist in which I should see?

I sure dont have your answer, but forgive me for writing anyhow. I only want you to know I pray for you and to stay encouraged. I have a girlfriend in Oregon that has battled shingles for years now, and noone seems to be able to help her. She even gets them inside her mouth and in her throat, which is just almost unbearable. So if anyone does know a specialist in this, or any new research on it, would be nice to know to pass on to my friend Ramona inORegon. she has suffered so much with this, as you have.
You are in my prayers , and I pray ppl that know a lot here will be able to help you, as you are my new friend. I want you well and happy and on fire for the Lord as always. full gospel shirley

I had shingles for the primary time whilst I used to be eight, after which saved on getting them (I'm kinda sickly, haha!) The stuff within the blisters can motive different folks to get shingles in the event that they contact it. Keep your shingles protected up. Try to not scratch them incase it will get to your fingertips and also you fail to remember to clean them. If it itches or stings, lay your hand on a bloodless rough floor and it's going to support. Shingles are like 'grownup bird pox'. If you might have had bird pox as soon as, you by no means do once more - however you'll be able to get shingles. You get them because of strain typically which messes up your immune procedure. Keep it protected. Notify your neices mom and your buddy, however they'll certainly me okay except they touched the blisters! But take into account to hold a bit of distance from them till the shingles start to heal. Hope they disappear quickly!

A dermatologist can handle the ins and outs of shingles better than a primary care provider.

If that fails for whatever reason, an Infectious Disease specialist is also very knowledgable about shingles.

Good Luck.

This is the same virus that causes Chicken Pox. The virus is fought off by the body and retreats to basal nerve roots in the spinal column. In adulthood, it sometimes presents as a "shingled" rash that follows the infected nerve. Treatment is usually symptomatic (pain relief is big as I am told that this hurts) and use of antivirals. It is not bacterial and antibiotics wont work. Do what your doctor tells you or, possibly, see a dermatologist. good Luck

My husband had shingles recently. His doctor told him that it occurs more frequently among middle-aged and elderly people and stress can bring it on. He was given a lotion to reduce the tenderness but like other viral infections, it has to run its course. There aren't really any medications that will get rid of it but just relieve the symptoms.
