the reason i ask this is because i posted a question about what would be a good idea for him to be for halloween, well i had someone answer saying "first off be a mother and cut his hair" what does that have to do with a halloween costume? when my son was little i tried to grow his hair out long, but he didnt like it so i kept i short. well one day he decided that he wanted it to be long. so i left it alone. he keeps his hair clean and in a straight cut.. i see nothing wrong with it.. he knows the consiquences of people making fun of him, but he does not care,, he is a straight A student.. he does not get into trouble, and he has even thought about donating his hair to locks of love (well 2 years ago he said he was going to grow it until the end of 5th grade and then donate it) i belive in expressing yourself.. if he is happy of who he is, then why cut his hair?? me personally i do not like long hair.. my hair is to my sholders.. but who am i to say to him, cut it off?? your opinion??

Your son is expressing himself. Let him go. I agree with you, I do not care for real long hair on anyone, especially boys, but hey, it isn't our hair. This is perfectly fine, let him do what he wants to with his hair. He sounds as if he is a great kid; good in school, probably popular, no trouble - let him have his hair long. If he wants to donate it later to locks of love, that would be great; if he decides he wants to keep it long, that is great too.

Oh my lord! It's 2007 and folks are still flippin' out over hair length?! No, you don't need to worry about your kid's hair length and he deserves bonus points for the personal hygiene as well as his compassion for others.

However, to answer your question "...personally I do not like long hair... ...but who am I to say to him 'cut it off'??" - You are his Mother, that's who. Please tell you don't have this kind of attitude with other issues in this kids life. He sounds like a pretty darn good kid but soon he'll be a teenager and as I remember it we ALL went a bit retarded at that age.

Just my two cents.

to be completely honest, i personally hate when guys have long hair, the shorter the better i my mind. BUT your son is 10 years old, old enough to decide how he wants his hair cut, like you said he understands the consequences. and if he likes his hair, i see nothing wrong with keeping it long, especially if it's nicely cut and clean. if you would really like it shorter, than maybe ask him to compromise by cutting off a few inches. but i think you should let him leave it. and i think is SO CUTE that he wants to donate it!

dont cut it. when he gets older long hair on guys is hot in my opinion. if hes like a hippy child. also when he gets older and hes not that cute long hair makes people look better. i dontknow why but ive always found it does. who cares what other people say. if he likes long hair then he likes long hair. long hair is chilled. if we cared what everyone always thought about us the world wouldnt function because thats all we would be focusing on. if its clean and looks nice then he should keep it.

I agree with most that I dont like long hair on guys. But it is his hair and to be honest with you he is the only one who has to like it. People who judge other people because of how they look are simply hiding their own insecurities. Who cares?? I plan on looking the way that I like to look and I expect others to do the same, I would look down on someone more for following what others say they should look like than long hair. Kudos to him for being himself regardless of ignorant people

hmm... In the middle ages, a hair like that is cool... but it's just a little anomaly, in my opinion, maybe if the hair was kinda like that of Matt McCoughnagy(dunno the spelling) or soemhitng
