Okay... is it just me, or are body alterations totally freeing and addictive? I only have one tat, but im DYING to get the next one, and I have several peircings, but I need more! The pain is just so appealing to me, and the feeling of the metal and ink going into my skin is just magnificent! If a pro walked in right now and offered to tat me up, I wouldnt know where to start! Its just a rush! do you think so?

Elton-I am currently engaged to the love of my life... he has 5 tats and 4 piercings. I was with him when he got his last tat, and he with me for mine. We are both perfectly happy with the thought of the other getting some alterations. When you love someone, you make sacrifices. If you love ur person, you wouldnt mind the genital piercing because she obviously wanted it enough to get the hole put there. If you cant respect the wants and needs of your lover, then maybe you shouldnt be their lover in the first place. Think about it.

It's completely addictive.
My original plans (from high school) to have 3 or 4 tattoos have been completely trashed, I'm already on number five, and I plan on getting at least 7 more.
I already have 9 piercings, but I'm thinking about removing all of my facial piercings and starting over (I currently have 3 labrets and 2 nostril piercing)
I'm thinking about cetting lowbrets, a septum, and an anti-brow.

Recently, I've been seriously considering scarification, which is something that has always given me the wig. I thought it would always gross me out, but apparently not, and I'm thinking about a full side-piece.

Oh well, at least I'm doing what I love.

EDIT: Whoa there Elton, she didn't ask if your relationship is in shambles cause your lover got their junk pierced. Why don't you post your own question instead of babbling on about nonsense for 5 paragraphs.

Not an "addiction" that can really be fed.....too expensive! I wait until I get my tax return each year, which gives me plenty of time to think it over. Plus I'm very picky about who does it. The person working on my current piece is on the other side of the country, so it makes it even harder. But the lack of money aspect is the main one.

What is "addicting"......OK, again not really addicting, more like "driving"........is the desire to "complete" things, i.e. finish full coverage of an area and connect pieces.

I HATE tattoo pain (and I personally have no interest in piercings) so that is nothing addicting. And there is nothing "freeing" about it to me....I guess I never felt repressed in the first place. If I wanted to be free, I'd just take off my underwears and roll in the poppy fields.

so nice to see that someone else enjoy's the feeling of the gun and needle, I like the tattoo gun more maybe just cause it last longer. I have 31 tat's and 4 piercing's. I'm always thinking of what I want next and were do I want it. I think it is a mental addiction more than physical, them chemical rush to the brain!

They are really addictive if you have the kind of personality. I do and I'm hooked on the adrenaline high. It's safer than drugs and is artistic and personal and expressive. I love it.

I want to answer your question in a more interesting way. Most all of us are in a relationship and in that regard I would ask you how important it is to you to get a tattoo or a piercing if your significant other was opposed to it. Is that tattoo or piercing more important to you than the opinion of your lover?

Would you do it anyway? I am in that situation and I am appalled at a piercing that took place. It was genital and that affects not only that person but me as their lover. It is uncomfortable, ugly and I do not like it. In this case I do not believe it is "addictive", but something that they wanted to do.

I'd like a tattoo on my arm with dolphins or something like that, but in doing so wouldn't affect a physical situation such as metal being inserted in a particular place.

So, if you want a tattoo, I say that's OK, but if you are in a relationship, placing metal objects onto your body may not be something your mate would agree with and is something to be discussed. As far as the "rush" you eluded to, I cannot agree with that simply because I do not share that opinion. I would not be objective if I didn't say that if that is what you get from it, then that would be a fact. However, if your decisions affect someone else, I suggest you speak with them first at least to get their opinion.

If you are in a relationship and you do not share your desires with them, you run the risk of losing them. There are some things that some people just will not deal with. If your desires are more important than your relationship, then go ahead and do it. But beware of the ramifications of your actions.
