Astrology was Before Christs time even, used by philosophers and early scientists, people who were curious about the universe -like the Egyptians to look at the planets alignment. This practice goes back 4000 BC and isn't the work of any evil. God after all made the universe, and the universe follows a law-Anyone who knows science understands that everything has an order to things. People believed that God could send messages through the natural laws, or som believed that the universe was able to affect our moods and personalities.
This is based on some truth, as the lunar cycles do affect human behaviour-Hospitals are much more busy on the night of a full moon, and human kind is just starting to doscover the potential that energy has in the universe to affect us.
Studying the stars and the planets helped them understand when to grow crops and predict the best outcome for that.

Newspapers and magazines aren't studying the planets alignment and the stars in any great detail if at all, so they are usually if not always inaccurate-and just for fun.
True zodiac readings are based on a variety of information-planets, your own birthdate, time of birth-etc..
This practice probably lead to other studies like Astronomy and sciences.
The church used to be against educating the public-knowledge was seen as a crime, b. that meant you didn't have faith in the word of the Bible. This is true, if you study history of Christianity you can learn about this.
Philosophers and scientists were often called heretics and had their books burned.
It would come as no surprise to me that divinity is offlimits to them also, as it was a source of knowledge for human kind based on the universe-maybe the beginings of thought b4 science came around. Of course the church would condemn anything that wasn't based on their own words.. Jesus did not write the bible, it was written hundreds of years later -And no doubt under the influence of others.

Astrology has its roots in ancient Babylonia, in the third millennium B.C. as a way to explain human behavior.

While I don't believe it is possible to generalize and say "all Libras are..." a detailed personal birth chart is very telling.

I don't get why Christians think everything is satanic.

It was around long before most of the major religions of to day. Will possibly be around for the same length of time in the future. Maybe as long as the planets exist.
