The reason people come here is to get away from the lack of opportunity in Mexico. My parents immigrated here in the late 50's so they could provide for their children. My parents came here legally. My father started out washing dishes and then earned a degree in business. My wife's parents were U.S. Citizens that were deported during the depression because people thought that in doing so, the economy would get better because Mexicans were taking everyone's jobs. This kind of thing also happened at the turn of the century to Asians under a "Yellow Peril" scare.
The truth is that not all illegal aliens are from Mexico although a majority are. I have met many illegals from such diverse countries as Laos, Phillipines, Arab states and even Canada and France. Some of these folks were career criminals that left their countries to evade criminal justice.
For you to say that the reason the Mexican government does not do anything to stop illegal immigration is just a very simplified view of the problem. If this is your interpretation of things, then you can say the same thing about the Chinese, Laotian, Phillipine, French and Canadian governments. In furtherance of your thesis, you would have to say that about any government if their citizens travel to Mexico for the sole purpose of crossing into the U.S. without papers.
The big issue is their are no jobs in those countries and people are like money, they go where they are treated best. In addition, employers need their labor because the jobs are generally low paying, low skill. I think you have a problem with Mexicans and you cannot adjust to this global economy of ours.

You are absolutely wrong. Many of those who come here are the worst, however, they are ALL a problem on many levels.
They are all criminals the second they step foot here illegally.
Those who decide to "pay" taxes do it with a stolen SS card...another crime.
They supposedly take the low paying jobs, but the lowest paying jobs have wages that they do not pay taxes on, and if they have kids, they actually get more back than they every pay anyway (earned income tax credit)...throw into the mix that they send billions back to Mexico and out of our economy, are a drain on our health care system, send their kids to our schools costing us more tax payer money, which could be used to better educate our own citizens and those who came here legally, and the list goes on and on.
ANY ILLEGAL IS A PROBLEM!

So - half the antis think that the illegals are driving down wages because they work too hard for too little money, and half of them think that the illegals don't work at all.
No. The illegals are MOSTLY hard-working, otherwise law-abiding people who are willing to take risks and make sacrifices to get jobs that pay more than what they could get in Central America so their children will have opportunities they didn't. A small fraction of them are vicious gangsters who realize that they can also make more money as criminals in the USA than in Central America.

I will say this...we are all immigrants..you sir are being a very narrow minded individual and are generalizing...there are plenty of people who were born here that bring our society down and before you go ranting about other another country and/or it's people... you should take a look in your backyard to make sure it isn't your own countrymen trying to bring you down, as you have obviously made it feel for those "immigrants". Thank you for your time. Peace.

i dont agree with you .. i think there are many people who just want to better their lives.. especially the kids.. if their parents didnt qualify for a visa when the kids were little its not their fault they want to better their lives.. or why would some kids be going to college? or why would their parents do anything to get them an education here?
