My cat's ears have gotten pink recently and I noticed a sore on the outside of one of her ears, which seems to have healed. Do I need to take her to the vet, and does anyone know why this happens to an indoor cat?
Thanks in advance for any helpful answers.

If there was any infection I think they were red because of the blood rushing to it.

It's like if you cut your finger it's really warm compared to your other fingers, a reaction to the pain.

Maybe your cat scraped it on something? If you have any other cats or it was in contact with any other animals it may have spread from them.

I have an indoor cat who contracted eye-Herpes somehow without any contact to anything different (we have one other cat but she was healthy)

Taking it to the vet would be your safest bet--especially if it is an open wound. It could get infected or irritated and become more severe.

Does the cat scratch her ears a lot? It could be ear mites. That's the most likely possibility for an indoors cat that doesn't have much contact with other cats or the outdoors. The scratching occurs because the mites make the cat's ears itch. I once had a cat with ear mites and his constant scratching burst a blood vessel in the ear. He had to undergo surgery for it and his ear was always slightly ****** after that.

I would head to the vet. I could be a number of things. Ear scratching can be a sign of ear mites (you'll see black dirt in the ear), ear infections, ringworm, or allergies. All things that can happen to an indoor cat and all things that need to be treated by a vet.
My cat has been scratching his ears raw. We found out it was allergies. After giving him a pill (that was FUN) and putting some fish oil on his food, he has healed up nicely.

sounds like ear mites. My long hair is highly susceptable to those things, I don't know why. He is an indoor cat too. I just know that when he starts to scratch I put the medicine in and he is good for about 6 mo. I treat both cats at the same time, just in case it is transferable.
