I notice that people talk about the freedom to accept god, mostly to accept christianity. but i dont see much choice in the matter, they believe you either choose to live by a set of rules which can be limiting (not to mention that they change regularly over time). or when you die be torrmented.
i believe in god but dont aggree with this view, i believe be a good person and you should be rewarded.
what do you think

It is my belief that the statement would read "Free to accept the God of your choice"
I must agree with Kerriwyn...as long as you are seeking to draw closer to your creator and are taking the actions and making the choices to do the next right thing, this is all that matters....
i hope you find what it is you seek...

you have made a choice, by not making a choice. Your choice is to try and be good enough- however how good is enough to a holy and just God- when you look at it that way, it should make more sense- we all deserve to die and be eternally separated by God- however God has made a choice, He has sent His Son to die in our place - and that is where our choice comes in. The set of rules we have to live by? The truth set you free by the way, and when you know Jesus following Him is not difficult but something you will desire to do.

OK, but I wonder why you choose to believe in god at all, then. You are attributing characteristics that you would *like* to see in a creator.
You've dismissed what has been written in the book in terms of the creator's requirements for salvation and replaced them with your own (better) morals.
In essence: "Creating god in in man's image".
Yet you still believe the book when it tells you he exists.
I find this curious. No offence intended.

We have the freedom to choose to accept whatever we wish to accept.
God does not exist solely for the Christian Faith.
The Universal Power is available to everybody equally.
Be the best person you can be....and you will reap the rewards.

If being good was all it took to get into Heaven, Jesus would have had no reason to come to earth to suffer and die for all of mankind's sins.
What we keep missing as people is, in God's eyes we could never be good enough to gain God's salvation for ouirselves.
God wants all to know that it is is great mercy and his great love for us which has saved his people- Not from anything we could have ever done.

I think that you think a lot like my mother and the other Christians in my family... It's a mindset I wish more people had.
