what does it mean by saying" you can't say it doesn't mean anything?"?

we are just classmates..he did not show any interest in me before..but last week we came across in the hallway and he asked me out for a movie(very casual)..

then at a party, he said to two female mutual friends: hey L(my name), did you tell them we went to see a movie together yesterday?

and my female friend said: you and P(his name) went out for a date! I responded: no..it is not a date..just hang out...

then he said: L(my name), you can not say it does not mean anything...

what does this mean?!?

then today we met in the cafeteria..he invited me to his new house for thanksgiving and also house warming...(of course there are other friends...)

so I do not get him...is he interested or just I think too much?

Frankly, ask him. Really, confront him on it, because if you guys can't relate honestly it doesn't matter.... so.... goooo.... beeee honest!!!! Talk to him, ask him about his strange behavior..... might like your response ;-), if not, then its better just to leave the male alone.....
