Coal fire power plants are a bigger emitter than autos.
Low emissions vehicles are good, but building more nuclear plants is a better idea.

Absolutely. Worldwide, cars account for about 10% of anthropogenic (human caused) greenhouse gas emissions

And in the USA it's over 20%!

That's a huge contribution, and we have the technology to decrease it substantially. There are already hybrids available, for starters. There are also a few electric vehicles currently available, and in the next few years there will be some really good ones which will perform almost as well as gas powered cars. Soon there will also be plug-in electric/gas hybrids.

Basically cars are a big contribution to global warming, and we have the technology to substantially reduce their impact.

Personally I think we should. Global Warming is such a big issue and people don't realize it right now, but less than 50 years from now people are going to start wishing that they cared and made a difference about it.

Good job on choosing global warming! And oh, you might want to watch An Inconvenient Truth. It talks a lot about it in there, and you can get some good facts for your essay.

Yes, I think we should because vehicles are the major source of the greenhouse gases, which contribute to global warming. There are many alternatives, solar power, fuel cells, hydrogen, bio fuels(ethanol).
but the best alternative so far would be fuel cells. It is the most developed in all the alternative energies.

Absolutely! Automobiles are one of the PRIME contributers to Global Warming... And until the people who drive cars, and the Companies that MAKE cars, -start thinking "GREEN" when it comes to the Damage cars do to our Environment, anything ELSE we do to reverse the situation- is just going to be a drop in the bucket... :( We have to start loving the Environment- MORE than the cars we drive that destroy it.
