Chocolate, whether in drink or candy is bad for dogs but what you described sounds like your dog should be fine. He could get a bit of diarrhea. For your own peace of mind, you can call a poison control hotline. It might cost you fifty five dollars, but you will be able to sleep.

I had a German Shepherd dog that stole a whole bag of easter mini chocolate bars and ate the whole thing, wrappers and ALL. I freaked and called my Vet who said to watch her but she should be fine, just might have a bit of diarrhea. He also said if it had been a smaller dog that ate that amount he would be concerned. If a smaller dog, and dark chocolates in a lesser amount he'd be concerned. For any dog incl. my 125 lb shepherd, he'd be concerned if it was BAKER's CHOCOLATE which has the highest amount of theobromine which is what makes chocolate toxic to dogs.
This past Christmas, a friend lost her Maltese when it climbed onto a table and ate about eight single wrapped dark chocolates.
So for YOU PEACE OF MIND and because you don't know the credentials of people responding here, try the poison control number where you can get a professional answer backed by the SPCA.

He's probably OK but check on him regularly. Chocolate can cause seizures in some dogs, but diluted like that will probably be OK. For years, nothing was really said about it and people gave dogs chocolate cookies, etc. Also avoid giving them raisins and grapes...If you're still not sure, look under Vets in the Yellow Pages and there should be some emergency numbers that will direct you to a clinic.

If you want to be certain that the chocolate will not harm your dog, make him throw up. All you need to do is pour some hydrogen peroxide down his throat, then bring him outside on a leash so he won't puke on your carpet. For a medium to large dog use about 1/4-1/2 cup of peroxide. For a small dog use less.

Relax, your dog will be OK ... there isn't much actual chocolate in that stuff, it's mostly sugar. So ... He might be a little hyper for awhile! The chocolate that's most dangerous is the dark stuff, like baker's chocolate, that's really concentrated. I can't believe your dog only drank an inch of it ... geeeeez, my 2 woulda snarfed down the whole glass in no time!

Unless the dog is a little dog like a Chihuahua or a puppy, a little tiny bit of chocolate milk will not hurt it.

maxmom is correct. It is the dark chocolate and bakers chocolate that is dangerous to animals. Our little rat terrier has helped himself to an entire 1/2 lb chocolate bar that was on my desk grr and he was fine. Milk also coats the stomache so he will be fine.

No, he won't be sick. The chocolate that makes dogs sick is pure chocolate, like bakers chocolate.
Nestles is mostly emulifiers, powdered milk, etc.
Plus is was mixed with milk, so it was diluted.

Hm, he should be ok. Just watch him.
Some say choclate can harm dogs, or even kill them. Im sure just a sip wouldnt hurt. But if this happens to much, he may very well become ill.
