It could never be fully prevented though. Some people just genetically have it.
But eating more keratine would help (the vitamin in carrots) That's really good for healthy eyes.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 11 years old. That was almost 40 years ago. In those days, we didn't even have personal computers, much less video games. I didn't watch much TV either but I still developed vision problems. It turned out that a great-grandfather had the same problem and it skipped some generations.

To tell you the truth I didn't know that Chinese were stereotyped as wearing glasses often. Glasses aren't necessarily perceived as nerdy anymore, and they can be considered more of a fashion statement. Unless you decide you can get over the hurtle of trying contacts, you should continue to wear your glasses. You have them so you can see better and without them you can't be at your best. (Is there a specific reason that contacts make you nervous because your optometrist would probably be able to explain any risks contacts have and how those risks can be prevented along with answering question you may have.)

None of those things will necessarily stop you from wearing glasses. For most people wearing glasses is genetic, if one of your parents wears glasses you might also. Your eyes are genetically programmed to start and stop changing at a certain age. You can't stop them, you can however prevent them from changing more then they are programmed to go by not straining them, like if the doctor tells you to wear you glasses all the time don't try to see in the distance without them, it just strains your eyes. The other thing you mentioned strain your eyes too, but not doing them will not improve your vision. The other thing that can make you wear glasses is poor nutrition. Even if you were never supposed to wear glasses not getting all the vitamins and minerals developing eyes need might make your sight drop, so make sure you eat your fruits and vegetables and everything else you know you're supposed to.
