you have to have a global view point because ,water is a global situation ,and the effects overlap.
Europe does not have the greatest overpopulation problem ,but they do drink water ,
and water comes in many forms including beer ,and cool drinks
and if agriculture in Africa or Mexico suffers because of lack of water ,Europe will know because food prices rise ,
everything is inter related
We are loosing the biggest potable water supplies in the world with the melting ice
75% of all sweet water is locked in ice and loads of that is now running into the rivers and seas.
Also agriculture uses about 60 % of all water supplies ,and is using more and more ,especially if it gets hotter
On top of that so much good water is being polluted on all fronts ,the only really clean water still being from high mountain springs
And every year there are 70 millions more people drinking the stuff
As if that was not enough ,less and less forests to produce water with precipitation.

Climate change=hotter weather=more evaporation.
Overpopulation.. well if you have 1000 parts of water (for arguement's sake), and 10 people, who each drink 1 part a day, that's what it would've been before, but then, they get together, make 5 couples, have 2 babies each, and voila, that's 20 people. Then they have 2 babies, and there's 40. This happens over and over (hence some couples that have 8 babies), eventually we get 1000 people, each needing 1 part of water, therefore, there's no water left, which is a real problem for people who are about to be born.

Let us not be parochial, remember the GLOBAL in global warming.
Whatever the local effects, we need to consider the larger picture when discussing a global issue.
Where I am, we are in a drought, being blamed on global warming, yet, the first 50 years of the 20th century were drought years, and hey, no global warming then.
Think about it.

The water we drink and use for everyday purposes is created by Treatment plants. Mostly municipally owned treatment works. If we need more water we can get it ...easy. Remember Water has a cycle... it is renewable...it is NOT a finite resource
Also, can you define "overpopulation"?
