They are also one of the most effective predators in the world.
If by "pet" you mean "will this wild animal successfully kill and eat every small pet in the neighborhood, and then proceed to maul my neighbors and family to death until animal control is forced to shoot it" then yes, a cougar is a great pet.
They are illegal.
They are dangerous.
They are wild.
If you want to look "cool", I'm sure people will just fawn over you and your mangled, half-eaten body parts.

Pet......no.
Maybe a semi-contented housemate with zoo like tendencies and a yen for eating anything that runs by.
There is a reason it's illegal to have these animals without a zoo or re-hab license. You can't even legally keep a bunny or squirrel if it's wild.
Get a license or get a dog.
The second video is of a bored cat pacing unhappily in a pen. Shadow and sugar are not pets if they are kept in a zoo enclosure. I'd rather have it free and happy or in a better zoo and happy. These cats are not happy.

No not ever, a cougar is a hunting animal, you cant take the wild out of the animal, it isnt fair to the cougar or to people who have to be around them.
I had a deer as a pet, got her as a tiny baby because someone had shot her mother, and raised her as a pet, she was never penned, but once she became a full grown adult she became aggressive and eventually we had to take her into the hills and turn her loose.
And deer arent hunting animals.
We were lucky, she survived. Most dont because they arent afraid of humans. Saw her some years later with a set of baby twins, she knew us, came up to say hello and then herded her kids out of there

I wouldn't think so. It's a wild animal that has not been domesticated like a dog. They are strong predators who could kill a person. You can however own a bobcat in some states and I met one who was a very cool pet. He even walked on a leash.

I have heard that even if you get a kitten cougar, when they get older, they can turn back on you because they are meant to be wild. So, no, not really.

That would be cool. Maybe a bit dangerous though. We don't get them over here in the land of oz (australia). Would you be able to train it not to attack and kill people?
