It was common practice back then to kill all the men and sell the women and children into slavery. There were instances when a city had to be completely destroyed and women and children were killed (and salt sowed across their fields).
These are cultural times where such actions were accepted. You have to remember that the bible was written by men and it is common practice to have your God resemble your culture as much as possible. If they thought it was fine, then they would have to assume that their God thought it was fine as well. I personally don't believe that God would condone the murder of any of His(Her) children and that, as with many religions, people took matters into their own hands and made God say and do things He(She) may not have said or done.

God is a jealous God. He said "there shall be no other Gods before me". Those people who He had killed were serving other (false) Gods and in turn leading people away from Him. God Loves You and does not want you fooled into turning your back on Him. He is the Way the Truth and the Life, No one Comes to the Father but by Him. If you turn your back on His Gift of Salvation you are doomed to Hell. He did not want evil people to lead you on the wrong path. This is the same reason so many suffer today because they refuse to accept Him. Strange at it seems, many people turn to God, when they have nowhere else to turn... He is not willing that any should perish.

Just so people know, God commanded Saul to kill an entire civilization(Men, women, children, animals, everything!) in 1 Samuel 15:7
He did so here because the Amalekites were a proverbial thorn in the Israelite's side. They (the Amalekites) would attack without provocation.
I can't answer why God would command this. I dont' understand it myself. If you and I knew why God did everything, there would be no purpose for His existance.

ok, however the God of the recent testomony isn't an identical with the God of the old testomony..?? genuine believers in God do no longer kill, basically devil believers kill..!! God do no longer command a ingredient like that..not at all..! If He needs to take a soul to Him, He take it widowed no permission and no help..!

I don't completely know the answer to that and will have to research it...
but why did Islamic terrorists blow up innocent women and children in the Twin Towers and Pentagon...?
I don't know if it's just me, I'm not even Jewish, but I am more than tired of your anti-Jewish ramblings, here and in your other posts. You're not even honest enough to say outright that you are just trying to stir up hatred of Jews and Judaism.
There are things in the Quran that are hard to explain, too. But I guess you wouldn't like us questioning that.
I want you to know that intelligent people see the motives behind questions like this.

punishment and judgement
God is a God of love, but also a God of justice, and wouldn't do anything without a good reason. When you were younger, do you ever remember getting punished for something, but you didn't know why? As humans, that's similar to our knowledge of God's reasoning. If he wanted to, he could have the ENTIRE world burned in fire and it could still bring Him glory, but he chooses mercy. In the same manner, he could have commanded His followers to TORTURE the women and children, but His actual command was to kill all, INCLUDING the women and children. They weren't the prime targets, they were just part of a group that needed to be destroyed.

Some will say it was "to test their faith" but I can't believe an omnipotent deity would be so crazy into mind games, like telling a father to kill his own son, just for the sake of determining loyalty.

He didn't like women and children that weren't his. If he didn't father them, off with their heads! He was quick to anger and did not mind taking it out on everyone around him. He killed his own people, too when they hacked him off. Maybe a little schizoid.
