As a fellow Catholic i hear what you are saying! I go to Church at least every Sunday or Saturday, and i see where you are coming from. I believe the Church is there to help us worship as a community and to show our devotion, but most peopel think of it as a pest and choose only to go on special holidays because they think that it iwll make up for the missed sundays, but in reality it doesnt, God only asks 1 hour of our day each week
It is kind of like a story where there is this man who never goes to church because he thinks it is boring, but when he struck with horrible things he goes to church and asks God to help him, when God looks down and sees the man he say " Who are you? i have never seen you in my house before?" even though this would never hapen it demonstrates how by going to chuch we get to know God and God gets to know us!
Peace in Christ

We make it a point to go every week. Sometimes I don't want to, but I have responsibility's in my church and people count on me and I can't just sit back at home because I feel tempted. Going twice out of the year doesn't make up for not going all year, it is like going to math class twice out of the year, you aren't going to learn anything. I heard that after 9-11 all the churches were packed, but after a month or so it went back to the way it was, they quit going. Some people seek God only when they need him.

It is best not to judge them.
Sometimes people are just not comfortable with a particualar church's doctrine,(teaching.)
I believe some feel the need to take communion at a particular time throughout the year, and that may be one reason some show up at those times when it is offered.
It is a personal choice as to why any of us either attend church regularly or not.

As I am not a Christian I do not attend church every Sunday. BUT my mother and sister DO as often as their health permits (they both have chronic illnesses -- my mother actually missed church this week because she is in the hospital recovering from surgery) and have the same pet peeve about "Christmas and Easter" Christians.
I do honor my Gods EVERY DAY without fail and cannot understand why some people who DO profess a religious belief would NOT do likewise.

I'm surprised that you are more upset that these people come on holidays, than you are happy that they come twice a year! At least, by coming to worship, they are acknowledging they know there is a God. It's a beginning. Maybe they are baby Christians! Let me ask you, my friend, do you think going every Sunday to Church makes up for your critical spirit toward another of God's children? And since the Bible says, "Thou shalt not judge - the amount of judgment you judge another, will be used on you (paraphrase)." Do you feel your spiritual walk could stand up to the 'amount of judgment you have put on them?
I think it would be good if when you see these dear souls walk in the Sanctuary on those blessed days, that you would smile and say a quick prayer, "Thank you Lord for helping them to find their way. Help me to help them Father. Amen."
To say we love others as we love ourselves, and we don't, is to be a hypocrite. What do you think.....?

Yes, I do go to church every Sunday because I love the Lord and the fellowship of my church. It's the least I can do to honor God who died for me. However, perhaps those who only come on Easter and Christmas probably identify with the fellow below:
The Army of the Lord
Jack was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands.
The preacher grabbed Jack by the hand and pulled him aside. The pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"Jack replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."
Pastor questioned, "How come I almost never see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
Jack whispered back, "I'm in the secret service."

Hi.I try to go to Mass one a week to celebrate the Eucharist and receive the Body of Christ at Communion.A lot of Catholics have given up going to Mass for one reason or another, and some just attend at Easter and Christmas. This is no surprise to me the way the world is going.Today,as we can see all around us everyone is dissatisfied, they cannot abide each other.Examples are the number of divorces, and abortions, all this, the Madonna said,is the work of the Devil.

Hi back to you.
I am 65 and I do not go to church at all - since I was 12.
I reached the age of reason back then and looked at the evidence for the case for the existence of any gods and decided that it was all false. The best decision I ever made.
Religion is a curse on humanity, distorting reality to the point where otherwise rational human beings play out their lives in the false hopes of there being an invisible, silent and totally non-interventional entity lurking in the background. A life in fantasy-land.
A simple applcation of intelligence, sufficient to dispel all the lovely cuddly stories you were taught as an impressionable child, should be sufficient for you to dump the concept totally.
Why haven't you done that?
Beats me.

i pass there common to BEG. yet on Fridays and Sundays I sell amulets and love potions, its the Church day so there are too many shoppers to cater, there are situations as quickly as I ran out of inventory. you won't believe how human beings decide for magic powers, and believe that existence can get replaced by way of somewhat stone, yet, on a similar time placed their believe to a god. Gullible truly.. very at that! Are you a howdy Joe. provide me money.
