My son went there also and it take s about a week for them to be able to write anyone..they have a transition to deal with...which means they haven't quite been assigned an address yet..be patient..he will write..until then just write to him and when you get his address send all of the letters to him..the other guys will get jealous..at least they were when I was in Marine Boot....also send a very nice pic..cause the guys like to .....share.
Be patient...he most likely is going crazy as well..and when you do write him..dont ever say you wish he was there...that tends to make them more home sic and unable to concentrate......tell him you are waiting for him.

Email him. My boyfriend is in the middle of the freakin' ocean right now with the Navy and email is a whole lot easier. Mail takes a couple weeks depending on how far they are. Have him send you his mailing address in an email would be good if you want to send a care package. The recruiters can't tell you anything by law. He can get to email so do that and you will be okay.
-Thumbs down? I'm going through this very thing! He may not be able to do anything normal for a few days so give it time but he would be able to email and call easier than write. That would take a really long time. His parents wont know any more than she does at this point.

Hey girl, you might want to call his parents... They will have his address. If not, you might have to wait for a letter from him. Its hard to find a mailing address because there are so many units at that base, and he didn't know what it was until he got there. He will contact you, just give him some time, he has not forgotten about you. Good luck!!!!

you can't contact him.he's pretty busy right now and he'll write when he can. the recruiters aren't allowed to tell you anything. just look up the address and write him a letter. it's only been a couple days anyway. give the guy a break. when he isn't training, he's sleeping.

he will send you the address once he has it. you can do nothing until then.
Oh & Leslie: recruits do NOT have email access during Boot Camp. nor do they have cell phone access, and pay phone calls must be earned. the ONLY way to get his address is by HIM mailing her a letter with it. there is NO other way to get it from the military. so unless her BF's family shares it, she can do nothing.

Lana,
There are 17 ships addresses at Great Lakes. If you don't know which ship he belongs to it is likely you will not be able to correspond with him until he mails you a letter or calls you.
Proper mailing addresses for recruits are:
SR NAME
SHIP XXX DIV XXX
XXXX STREET OR AVENUE
GREAT LAKES IL 60088-XXXX
Below is the link for contacting your recruit. but again you will need to know which ship he is assigned to. Hope this helps.
If you are really really desperate I suggest you write 17 letters and send one to each ship,,,,you will absolutely score at one of the addresses located in the link below!!!!!
