I have a beautiful ragdoll cat that I have had for around 6 months. Everything is fine with him except, he nibbles the fur off of his tail and spits it in the floor. At any given time, you can find a clump of hair somewhere in my house. He doesn't have fleas and went to the vet right before I got him and nothing was found to be wrong? He doesn't bite it all off, however, most ragdolls have thick, furry tails, his is kind of puny! I wonder, is it a nervous habit (like a human biting their fingernails)? Has anyone else had experience with this? Is there anything I can do to stop it?

Has he always done this? It could be a food allergy. I would try a change in food to see if that helps.
My cat is having some allergy issues and we are giving him a pill I got from the vet and I'm also putting fish oil on his food. Seems to be helping quite a bit.

My mums cat had treatment for fleas and as a conceal a number of the fleas burrowed below the floor which then killed the flea and left a small bump (very small) and over the subsequent year it grew in to a good bump so i took it to the vets thats the place i found out it became fleas burrowing. consumer-friendly indicators are the biting/clawing of the floor, if the area is stressful to realize like back of head they're going to type of nut something with a view to 'scratch' it and everyday irritable behaviour. The vet will provide injections below the floor which softens the bumps then it is the place us vendors are available in. we would desire to start massaging the bumps, extra time softly nipping so it type of starts peaking on the suited then this could strengthen into ineffective epidermis and squeeze it to pop it and out pops ineffective flea and a lot of black stinky puss use a infant wipe to conceal the lump to stop any an infection in cat or human. try this to all lumps and that they're going to experience the version after the 1st one, ours had his first finished nights sleep and became no longer crying along with his severe pitched voice. as quickly as ina jointly as the puss fills up yet you in simple terms squeeze and it will relieve the tension.

Are you sure it isn't fleas? Sounds like it. If you're not treating regularly with a veterinary (not store-bought) product, then it's likely to be fleas.

So, he went to the vet before you got him - that was 6 months ago! Like a car MOT, a vet check only certifies health then and there, certainly not 6 months down the line. I would go and get some Frontline from your vet for starters, and tell them what's going on, because they're the only ones who can tell you what's going on. We can only guess.

You said the cat went to the vet before you got him- why hasn't he been since then? You are always supposed to take a newly adopted animal to a vet within 48 hours to be checked (even if the previous owner said he was already seen by one).
It might be a food allergy so consider switching his food to a higher-quality one.

My Dog and Cat did do that, they might actually think its another animal and be attackingn it because they dont know its their own tail, if it starts to bleed get a second opinion fast, usually the cat or dog stops in a while, it could also be your cat is really itchy from dry skin

My cat would pull out her fur in clumps when she ate corn or wheat.

It's known to cause itchy skin.

Switch her food
