1 John 1:5
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." I think that death is a bad thing, so why then would people say that God kills and destroys and is angry and brings evil on people if 1 John 1:5 totally contradicts their "logic"?

And yes, people do say those things so don't even bother denying it.

God gives our life and He can take it away. he also can wake us up when we die, so death is no biggie.

In 1st John, John the author is writing a letter, attempting to explain in simple terms his time spent with Jesus -- God in the flesh. He relates that God is light, meaning he is pure and good. In Him, there is no darkness (read evil). People often suffer moments of weakness in their faith. making comment that God took so and so away from them or that God allowed this to happen. They run into the paradox of God's having given us free will. God is the creator of everything -- including Satan and hell. If God is pure and good, then why Satan and hell? The answer may be as simple as, what good is choice if there is no consequence? In darkness, you cannot tell evil from good. But in light, you can surely discern the difference. Physical death need not be the end all. Where one door closes, another opens.

1 John 1:5 says: Here is the message we heard from him and pass on to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to be sharing in his life while we walk in the dark, our words and our lives are a lie, but if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, then we share together a common life and we are being cleansed from every sin by the blood of Jesus his Son.
Where is the death and destruction?????????????

I don't attribute death and destruction to God, and I don't pay a great deal of attention to John 1:15.

As to logic, you might want to read A. J. Ayer's "Language, Truth, and Logic," paying particular attention to the role of the metaphysical in reasoning.

"and in him is no darkness at all; no darkness of sin; nothing is more contrary to him, or more distant from him: nor any darkness of error and ignorance; what is unknown to men, as the times and seasons; what angels were ignorant of, and even Christ, as man, as the day and hour of Jerusalem's destruction, were known to the Father; in him is no ignorance of anything whatever; nor is there any variableness or shadow of turning in him, as there is in the luminous body of the sun; but God is always the same pure and holy, wise and knowing Being. "

God is the sovereign of the universe, nothing occurs that He does not cause or allow.

Yes people say them but they are blaming the wrong one. The devil comes seeking whom he may devour. He looks to steal, kill, and destroy and he is the father of lies. Jesus called him a murderer from the beginning. So, People are fooled into thinking it is God, when it's the god with a little g.

People say "why did God take my grandma" or something along those lines. I suppose if they're angry they might say that. But when God lets someone pass I believe he's either taking them into his house, Heaven, or sending them from earth to Hell because they're bad.

I had something else to say... but i forgot. I might get back to you if I remember.

The Bible also says that our God is a consuming fire. God's judgment of sin is righteous and holy. Our God is an awesome God!
