I don't think that these decisions are based on fairness but on budgets and supply'demand.

Probably has more to do with dollars and cents than the crime rate. I'm not from New York, but it is quite possible the tax base is higher on Long Island, and the budget is higher.
Plus, NYC is the largest police force in the world. The economic impact on the city would be effected quite a bit more if they were given a raise similar to Long Island.

You mean "much less?" How do you know how much harder NYC police work than those in Long Island? Every random car stop could mean a police officer's death. They don't do that in Long Island? Just because it appears to you that Long Island police aren't working as hard as those in Manhattan doesn't mean they aren't. NYC police are paid infinitely more than those in Philadelphia but I can guarantee you they work just as hard as those in NYC and risk their lives just as frequently.

actually police officers in new york just got a raise for being "more aggressive". also, the more aggressive policemen will be given the first choice of overtime. this comes along the same time that all cameras are now banned in new york city. also no guns. also no more free speech. they actually have free speach zones now. is this moscow or new york?

i think it's fine, and you haven't shown any data that says you're more likely to be hurt in nyc than in long island.
nyc doesn't deserve the best and brightest if they're not going to pay them.
it's totally ok if long island wants to give them more, the po's can do whatever they want.

NYC police officers would get paid "morer," but obviously you need the money to work on your poor grammer.

MONEY IS THE NAME OF THE GAME IN ANY BUSINESS. MANY MUNICIPALITIES ARE FINDING THIS OUT THAT TO HIRE THE BEST YOU MUST PAY THE BEST--LIKE YOU SAY IT PAYS BETTER AND LESS CRIME.

They pay, what they can afford, nobody has to work for the police, if they don't want to.
