I just read this article and quite frankly am appalled.

Why are we seeing so many issues of Church being involved with our government? First it was with the pledge of allegiance, which for anyone who doesn't know - One nation under god- was added into the pledge during times of war, and now a county not far from mine is teaching creationism in their schools. I understand that Evolution is a theory but why not take that out of the text books instead adding something church related into our schools. That completely contradicts the separation between the two.

What happened is that the political Right found out that they could gain power by pandering to the base fears of evangelical Christians. Evangelical Christians forgot that THEY were the ones who first advocated for a separation of church and state in order to protect their freedom of worship. And the modern Republican party was born, looking nothing like the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, etc.

Peace to you.

ID folks skirt that issue by saying, "We're not saying who made, just that something had to design it." It could be god, the FSM or even aliens of some sort. Also don't forget the whole gay marriage debacle we've got going. Apparently I'm one of the few who think that if a couple can find a church willing to perform the ceremony, the should be able to get hitched, regardless of what the government says.

Why are you appalled? These people are turning themselves in for crimes they have committed and are doing it in a place (a church)so that they are not harmed by the police. As for separation of church and state, can you show me those exact words from the US Constitution? It's not there

It is because of separation of church and state why there is so much confusion in America now. If people would stop trying to separate an inseparable-God from things, problems would go on in America like it has.

There is no seperation of church and state, the constituion only says "no official religion" that is alot different than seperation of church and state.
