8 yrs ago my stepfather would walk in on me in the shower, show porns on tv, etc.. my mother is a social worker and when i told her she left him, they have a daughter together who is now 12, no charges were filed bc not enough evidence so she says, i think she wanted the whole thing to just end and not go any more into it..denial i guess although she did leave him..My question is, even though nothing happened to him, now that my little sister is 12 I am worried he will do the same thing to her...Is there anything I can do now??I obviously dont have any evidence with it being 8 yrs ago, but I just wish I could do something now incase he would do this to someone else, they would already have a complaint.I dont think I could live with myself if he did this again and got away with it and I didnt do anything.. I dont know I am confused.

hmm, this is a tough situation because that "his" daughter you are worried about so I don't know if he's going to do the same thing to his own flesh and blood , but I'd just leave it up to your mom to tell her. I mean, it's okay that you didn't tell because maybe you didn't know what was happening to you at 12, but now you know what he did so maybe you can warn that girl or tell your mom to visit her daughter and tell her.

Legally, no. If your case didn't make it through, then the likelihood that they will listen to you about someone else is pretty low.
However, you can call child services to investigate him.
Another thing, is you can have a talk with your sister, and ask her. If at first she says no and looks down, or at least not into your eyes, you can explain why you asked. If she still says no, try to comfort her by saying something like "OK, I thought he had changed, but I wasn't sure." even if that isn't true.
And, if that scenario played through and she HAS been abused, then eventually she will tell you, because people love relating to others who have been put in the same position.
At this point, those two seem to be your only options, other than looking for evidence and taking pictures of it.

As far as I know there is no Statue of Limitations on Murder or Rape. I honestly believe that the decision to report him to any authorities rest with your Mother. She is aware of what took place with you, and if something ever happened to your little sister your Mother would be the person to be responsible. This is a very sensitive situation, that was a lot of years ago, so I would let a laying dog lie. I would remind your Mother so that she could keep that situation in the back of her mind, more as a reminder than anything. Good Luck.

Theres no number of years on sex cases. You dont need any proof to get things going or to file a lawsuit. Look at all the rape and school teacher cases nothing but words there.

I'm not so sure about the law, and whether it being so long ago if you can do anything, but you need to tell someone on the side of the law (someone not your mom, who may be in denial). They may not can charge him on you, but they surely can watch him from around your sister.
He's obviously sick and disturbed, you need to report him.

Report it to the police anyway, and tell them your concerns. Or call child protective services.
