4 or 5 days ago I went for my first 7 mile walk and about 2 days after that I went to sleep and woke up and had severe pain in the back my right side, like above the lovehandle(i dunno what its called) when I got up, took my pain medication and it went away. then the same thing happened the day after and it went away with medicine. Now it feels less painful but it's in the front and back now. What is wrong?

Going by just what you've written, my initial thought was sore muscles. It is not uncommon to experience this type of pain after a 7 mile walk, especially your first one. But, to be on the safe side, I'd recommend seeing a doctor. You haven't reported any blood in your urine in your question. So I would feel extremely comfortable saying that I think you could rule out kidney cancer. Kidney stone possibly, not probably. My suggestion is to see your physician if for no other reason than to alleviate your worse fears. Best of luck and take care.

When i was 16 i started having pain in my back on the right side... it hurt the most when i would smoke pot ( i was a teenager for goodness sake).. or took a pain pill... ( i was in a few car accidents that year) the pain persisted for years.. i never went to the doctor because i didnt have insurance and felt like i could deal with it. One day i couldnt get out of bed... went to the er and found out that my ureter was tied in a knot .. my kidney was working 100 times harder than it should have been... i almost had to have a transplant but undwent a surgery instead.
I cant believe i almost lost my kidney because i thought i could deal with it... and shame on our healtcare system too!
Go to the doctor if you can... see if your fluids are flowing properly...

You do not state your age. After 30 we all succumb to Disc problems in the spine. Likewise you do not state if you built up to this walk, or just went out and walked 7 miles? By love handle I assume you mean the top of the hip bone, the iliac crest where one nerve leaves the spine, splits travels down the back towards the leg and then comes around the front, travels to the appendix area. It could be that you have pulled a muscle, which is now inflamed and that is pressing on this nerve, causing the pain. First thing... Why don't you go see a doctor?
It's possible that it is kidney stones. Everyone passes a kidney stone, they just don't feel it. But sometimes they do and when they do it's like a sharp, stabbing pain. And all you have to do is drink lots and lots of water.
Regardless, see a doctor whenever you experience pain.

It could be a kidney stone. It's possible that the additional activity knocked it out of the kidney.
Unless you've had kidney problems in the past, I wouldn't worry about kidney cancer.
Have you had any nausea or hot flashes/fever? Those are symptoms as well.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

If the pain is intensified when you move quickly, it could be growing pains esp. as it is not always there. If it burns when you urinate, it is pobably your kidneys. If you use a lot of alchol, most probably it is kidneys. best to see Dr.
