Lice feed on human blood, and they lay their eggs and deposit waste matter on the skin and clothing. A body lice infection causes intense itching. When body lice are not feeding on blood, they live in the seams and folds of clothing. Body lice are transmitted by contact with infected clothing and bedding as well as by direct contact with an infected person.

Lice are very terratorial... head lice stay on the head; pubic lice stay in their own area. Body lice tend to live in the seams of clothing and will reinfect the body unless the clothes are washed in hot water.

Body lice are remated to head lice, but they do not reside on the head. They do similar head lice, it is visible. Adults almost similar to fleas. They reside mainly in the clothing and bedding, getting onto the skin to feed 2 or 3 times a day. Their eggs are layed in the clothing or bedding. Most body lice reside on homeless or destitute adults who rarely change their clothes. Children rarely get it. Usually washing the infected materials will do the job. If the condition doesn't get better it could be something else. Good luck,

Despite what you are thinking, your child probably has head lice, rather than body lice. Body lice are most commonly found in homeless people, and those who don't bathe or change clothes regularly. Head lice are visible, not too easily though, and can be responsible for the bites on other parts of your daughter's upper body.
Also, if you have a bald baby, you shouldn't worry, but if you have a baby with even some thin, tufts of hair, it might be a good idea to keep her in a hat often.
Children often get head lice from the fact that they mistakenly share hats and hair accessories, or brushes. That is the easiest way for lice to spread. The best thing to do is buy some special louse-ridding shampoo, but I think you might only be able to get that with a trip to the doctor's.
If you're daughter's already been diagnosed with actual body lice, you must be very careful. They live in your clothes and bedsheets too, and your whole family would do best to be careful since body lice can spread even easier than head lice.

Body lice are quite rare... head lice are rampant. Body lice are found on folks who haven't washed their clothes in ages... the lice inhabit the clothing is my understand, and they feed on the person. The only place lice can actually live on a person is the hair. If you shave your head... no more lice! Although I have seen nits on eyebrows... come to think of it ;-) The main reason for not getting rid of head lice is someone else in the house has them and hasn't been treated (a parent or sibling). If you treat the child and remove all the nits and treat them again 1 week later and vacuum their room, change their bed linens, bag their stuffed animals for a week and wash all the clothes they have been wearing, you should have it covered. Good luck!

You should be able to see them very well with a magnifying glass they should look like tiny beach crabs usualy red or brown.
Body lice is called crabs. They generally stay below the chin while the head lice stays above the chin.
\\\\\ THEY ARE HIGHLY INFECTIOUS. /////
With a baby in the house they need to be treated ASAP.
some people have luck with keeping the body and hair oiled down as this will keep them from breathing (suffocate).
Flea shampoo will help kill them bloodsuckers.
and cheaper than the people treatments. Peprizin is the main ingrediant used and is reasonably safe for mild use.
There are over the counter treatments. some work better than others.
The bedding and clothing must be washed in hot water to kill the eggs. use the flea shampoo in the wash .
The carpets must be treated and cleaned . flea powder should work most is .5 -1.0% sevan dust.
the eggs will hatch in 2-4 days so a single treatment may not get ride of them but three or possably more should do it.
Watch where she goes and see who is giving them to her and keep her away from them. the school needs to know about this ASAP. as the whole school may be infected. These can cause the school to shut down.
