Actually, you only have to believe in the gods that can beat you up. So yes to Thor, and Horus, and Ares, but no to Jesus, Thoth, and Hephaestus (actually, he can beat you up, but you can out run him and his club foot).

If the pascal wager is right, and it has been shown that every god are selfish and demands total worship. If you believes in all the thousands of gods, that mean you are in the wrath of the "possible true god" .... LOL.

I suggest that you assemble a giant wheel with all the gods listed. Spin the wheel and pick the god that comes up on the wheel. If you're are right, you are set. If you are wrong, you can defend yourself by saying that whichever god that judges you failed to stop the wheel in the right place.

There is only one God that we seek and that is our Creator. Start with just that. If you honestly come to error, I think God forgives honest error. The problem is that arguments like this one aren't usually honest.
