Well, I'm trying to loose some weight. I've been eating healthier for about the last 1-2 months, and I've been doing pushups periodically for the last year, and my chest had grown quite some bit, and I haven't really lost any weight. I've stayed at the same weight

I do around 3-4 sets of 30-60 pushups every day/every other day. Is this actually helping me loose weight, and I just don't notice it? Am I loosing body fat and gaining muscle, am I doing enough pushups or am I just not doing anything? If pushups aren't a good way to reduce body fat, whats a good way to loose weight in the comfort of your own home?

Push-ups are good for developing strength but are not that effective for weight loss (as you are finding out). Even for strength training you shouldn't do just push-ups. Push-ups work mostly your chest, triceps and anterior delts (front part of the shoulder). You should keep keep the opposite muscle group (back and biceps) equally strong by doing chin-ups as well.

However the best way to lose fat is to do regular aerobic exercise and watch your diet. Its best to slowly increase the intensity and duration of your cardio workouts and to slowly make healthy improvements to your diet.

Walking, running, cycling, swimming, x-country skiing are all good for losing weight and improving your endurance. Or anything that raises your heart rate to about 70-75% of your maximum heart rate and keeps it there for at least 20 minutes (but its better if you stretch that out to longer).

To figure out your maximum heart rate just take 220 and subtract your age.

Hi Great you are eating better but pushups will only help develope muscle which weights more than fat If this is your only from of exercise your weight loss will be slower you need to get out and walk at a brisk pace
Weight loss is not just on the scales you should measure yourself Chest waist hips even thight and upperarm measurements These will show the changes in your body and these will have shown your arms and chest increasing due to muscle growth.
Try to have a mixture of exercises and activities to help you not get bored with your efforts

The best way is to go to the gym and start doing full body workouts. If you would like that email me and i can help you out.

But if you want to workout out of the comfort of your own home, I would suggest to start doing some cardio. Go outside and jog a mile or so everyday or every other day. Also do try doing some dibs and sit-ups, this will help.

Pushups paired with other exercises that utilize your entire body and large muscle groups (such as squat and lunge) will hellp you put on lean muscle and effectvely crank up your fat burning fire. Add in cardio and a clean diet and you will begin to see result.

Try power yoga, jumping rope, riding a bike or running. You actually need some cardio or aerobic exercise, in addition to anaerobic activities (push ups), to help you increase your metabolism.
