I look it up in spotlight, using the exact words it shows in limewire not there. Then my computer starts acting slow and I cannot open another application at all If I clicked on one it would just bounce on the dock and never open itunes was playing during the downloading process and after it was done. I unplug my computer,Then I wait a couple of minutes and turn it on. Normal start up, same pace as before. I log in and icons in my dock that I had before are gone I did not have Mail in my dock, and now it was in there, but its icon was a ? same with apple os x icon. i run safari and a window says update has been installed i didnt install anything, it wanted me totransfer psswrds

Don't worry about any Apple OS X icon in the Dock; it was just a Web link for news about OS X. If you really want it back, wait until you get Safari working normally again, and then go to:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/
Drag the web address out of the top bar of Safari and put it in the Dock to the right of the dividing line.

As for the other question marks, that means the links to those items are no longer good. Unless many of your applications have been moved or the Applications folder is renamed, you must have a corrupt preference file. Go to: your home folder > Library > Preferences and drag com.apple.dock.plist to the trash. Restart and see if that corrects the question mark problem. If not, just drag each question mark out of the Dock and drop on the desktop. They will disappear in a puff of smoke. Next, go to the Applications folder and drag any item you like to the Dock to make a new icon.

When you say "it wanted me to transfer psswrds", what was the message? The wording of the message is important. You should never allow Safari to save your passwords, especially those to your financial accounts online. To get Safari back in shape, quit Safari, go to: your home folder > Library > Safari. Trash all the items in that folder except "Bookmarks.plist". Now go to: your home folder > Library > Preferences. Trash com.apple.safari.plist. Open Safari again. You will need to set all the Safari preferences such as home page address, download location, etc.

Yes you can. Though there are less out there for macs, there are still a ton of viruses on limewire. Keep an updated anti-virus if you decide to go this route. Don't ever believe people saying things are safe because they aren't the majority threat. That just sets you up to get nailed.

Oh god... Uninstall limewire and your media player if you can. If it doesn't work, I don't know anything about macs but you can master reboot it somehow, you just need to put in the startup software disk that comes with it.

Sounds more like you have got a file corruption than a virus by the way your Mac is behaving.
