me and this boy have been talking for a few weeks. While most of the time we just hang out together by ourselves. The other day his best friend was over his house when I stopped by and he acted really funny towards me because his friend was there.

Maybe he's not that into you and doesn't want his friends to think so. Because when our friends are around we want to respect them too. When we're with our girlfriend, she is our top priority. That's just the way guys are. Please STOP TRYING TO CHANG US. We allow you to do what ever you want to do and act the way you feel natural. WHY CAN'T YOU DO THAT FOR US? Does everything ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ABOUT YOU?

Because that boy is a boy and not a true to the game leader. Real thorough (sp?) dudes aren't going to start acting funny around their friends when their girl is around. Instead, a real dude is going to keep his friends and his girls separate because mixing those two are a recipe for disaster. Now I don't know if you stopped at his house unexpectantly or not, but what he should have done was tell you that you two are going to hang out later on that night, next week, etc; right now we got the Madden tournament going.

Because around their guy friends they are expected to be all "macho" and tough, yet with a woman they actually care about they tend to be more emotional to show the woman that they can be a guy she would want a relationship with.

So you have the two different, conflicting desires trying to "play out" in the guys' head at the same time. Is it any wonder that he "acts funny"?

Try to be understanding that even if the guy is someone you have feelings about, he may not be at a point (maturity) in his relationships with his friends that will permit him to show his feelings for you while still maintaining his "macho" image around his guy friends.

If you think about it, you could be flattered by his "conflicted" desires. It means he really does have feelings for you, and he does not know how to handle that fact.

Good Luck!

I've had this happen. I was young, late teens. I'm just assuming you're young and so is the 'boy' you're dating.
I know I have 'stopped by' a boyfriend of mine before's house, and he acted very strangely, too. did you come uninvited?
Maybe he's not as into you as you think? I would play it cool for a while... 'hard to get'.. . and not let some 'boy' get you upset, or make you feel badly. If he's young and immature, which sounds like it, he may be just trying to get in your pants. any guy who worries too much about their friends' opinion, is not too cool of a guy, anyways... IMO.
TAKE CARE.

They just want to look cool infront of them..

Males try to look in charge when with their male friends, they will act like you are more into him than he is of you so his friend will respect him. Tell him he was a jack a** to you and not to do it again. There are times when you have to be blunt. This is one of those times.

Because boys (incl. immature men) don't want to feel 'owned' by their women in front of other guys. It's a macho thing. All this does though is show the girl/woman that in certain arena, they are not appreciated and it's stupid.
