It matters and it doesn't. It just depends on the ages involved. Example, When I was 32 I was going out with a guy who was 43. At 18 I would have thought that was gross. Now that I'm older then 32 I date guys a lot younger. Anywhere from 6-17 years younger then me.
It's such a personal decision. But when you get into ages 21 and below it's tricky. Like it's NOT okay for a 21 year old to date a 15,16,17 year old, in MY opinion.
In MY opinion if you are 21 you shouldn't date 2 years above or below you.
This is just from my own personal experience. Is all. My most meaningful relationships all started happening after I was about 27 or 28.

This is going to spark quite a debate....there's no answer, just opinions. However, I'd have to say, it does matter. For example lets take the extreme case. Say you have a daughter, she's a freshman in highshool. Just under the legal age for about anything but dating. Say I'm her boyfriend that is 35 yrs old. How many mothers (in Western culture) could be truly happy for their daughter. Now I'm guessing your question is, "will it matter to me." If you ask me, this is also a big YES. Why people go through different stages in life. The social, financial and emotional stages will be staggerd and it may be difficult to relate to one another. It is possible to overcome all of these difficulities thought. It's somehting called LOVE. To summarize...age does matter but LOVE overcomes all. See there's no answer to your question!

no, age is a factor. Age plays a role in the person's personality, likes, dislikes, etc. As time progresses so does ones personality. And when you are dating you are looking for someone with common interests, so it only makes sense to stay in your age group. Usually a couple of years is not enough but there has to be a significant gap that defines a difference of settings in someones life.. The older you get the bigger the gap can be.

I think to a degree. 3 years, 10 years, in some cases 17 years is an okay difference. It kinda depends on the age of the younger partner (sometimes). What ever works, just be happy.

well age does'nt really matter once you have reached maturity but that depends on the person.i am 48 my significant other is 42 we unanimously think that we are a good fit, when you are wise enough and capable enough into making decisions that effect your life ,whether those choices are good for you or not, only you will know how it feels to you . if you have any reservations in mind then dont do it.you'll only kick yourself in the butt later .ya know the saying, woulda, coulda, shouda?.

the first thought that comes to mind is that you are talking about relationships, and age only matters if one of the parties is too young but remember charlie chaplin married his wife when she was, I think 14, or some young age and they were married until his death. age doesn't matter as long as there is maturity but often that is lacking in relationships of any age combination as we see in the number of divorces.

Yes...it can matter. If you're between 18 and 22 and you're dating someone thats 30 and up....then guess what ....chances are that THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT OLD PERSON. If that old person cannot fnd a date with someone closer in age, then that means that something isn't right. So if you're dating someone older ask another person in the same age range if there is something noticably "off" with whom you're dating.
