Is it dangerous to stop taking it? please help

Yes it is. You can't just stop. You have to be phased out gradually. Obviously you know this if you are still feeling depressed.

I've been there hun and it really is bad news if you try and do this yourself without medical supervision.

Call the doctor first thing in the morning and explain what happened. They will help you get back on track.

There are antidepressants that will not make you so sedated. But I'll say you may be too young for antidepressants. Most of them now have warnings not to prescribe to anyone under 18 because they can often cause the opposite reaction from what is desired. Like you getting so angry while taking Lexapro. Yes, tell your doctor and don't just roll over on your back and take whatever he shovels out at you. Make him help you find something that works. He can't know what to do for you unless you give him an accurate report. Keep at it! You truly need to get back in therapy so you can keep working on what makes you feel so numb that you have to cut in order to feel anything. I'm so sorry your mom has cancer; life's not fair sometimes. But you are worth the time and expense to get well, as much as she is. I wish you both well.

I agree with the other answers. Don't quit cold turkey, because your body needs to adjust to a gradual change.

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Medication is the only treatment. Just because you were doing good, doesn't mean you should stop taking your meds. That's a mistake a lot of depressed people make.

You can get sick from stopping your meds all of a sudden. Please consult with your doctor. He can best advise you. Good luck!

If you intend to stop taking your Zoloft you have to be weened off it. You can not just stop and yes, it could be dangerous. I would strongly suggest that you contact your dr - infact, you should be under his/her care if you are on this type of medication. You may also want to consider talking to a therapist and start journaling. You'll be surprised at how much both of those can help clear your mind.

It worked though I'm no longer depressed and I have a job that I'm to announce. I would say you don't need you just need more stuff to do or do more stuff to keep you amused. Ive been depressed for too many years and im only in my early 20s. ONLY your doctor will know when you should stop taking your meds. stop taking your meds could cause a relaps making you depressed all over again or sometimes something worst.

trust me on this.

Your doctor will help you decide if you can go off your medicatin. The medication really does help you, see now that you are off it, you are feeling depressed again. Please tell your doctor.

It is dangerous to suddenly stop taking any medication you have been taking for a long time.

Making dietary changes is your first line of defense in treating hypothyroidism. Learn here https://tr.im/2IaHB

Many people with hypothyroidism experience crippling fatigue and brain fog, which prompts reaching for non-nutritional forms of energy like sugar and caffeine. I’ve dubbed these rascals the terrible twosome, as they can burn out your thyroid (and destabilize blood sugar).

1. Just say no to the dietary bungee cord. Greatly reduce or eliminate caffeine and sugar, including refined carbohydrates like flour, which the body treats like sugar. Make grain-based carbohydrates lesser of a focus, eating non-starchy vegetables to your heart’s content.

2. Up the protein. Protein transports thyroid hormone to all your tissues and enjoying it at each meal can help normalize thyroid function. Proteins include nuts and nut butters; quinoa; hormone- and antibiotic-free animal products (organic, grass-fed meats, eggs, and sustainably-farmed fish); and legumes.

As someone who is currently taking an Antidepressant, you are not to stop taking your pill, unless the Doctor, advises you to do so. Even, if and when he does, it has to be done gradually. You can't just stop just like that.

Depression is treatable but not cureable. You should not stop taking your meds without your docs approval. You have a diagnosis of depression so you need you medication to help with this.
