If you haven't gotten it yet, wash your hands as often as possible or carry around one of those little bottles of hand sanitizer (especially when touching doorknobs or other surfaces other people do), keep your hands away from your face (that's how most germs spread) and have lots of citrus.

Now if you're already feeling sniffly, scratchy throat etc., cold eeze lozenges always works for me. The minute i feel something coming on i take it (i like the tropical punch and strawberries and cream flavors the best) and it'll either stop the cold in its tracks or shorten my sick time to about a day or so. I also try to lie down as often as i can since for me when i get sick i know it's because i've been overdoing it and my immune system is low. Otherwise drowning yourself in oj and chicken soup when you're sick is the best way to go. I don't even waste my time with sudafed or robitussin cuz they just don't work. Good luck avoiding the bug and if you've got it, feel better:)

Run, don't walk to your nearest drug store and pick up some Cold-eze lozengers. They come in different flavors - they are full of zinc, good for getting rid of/cutting short a cold. Usually if I take 2-4 during the day the next morning I'm sniffle free.I've never had anything work so well. They run about $3-4 and have no expiration date so you can keep them for a long time.
Make sure you wash your hands often - change your toothbrush, wash the telephone and your cell phone and anything else you touch a lot. Drink lots of OJ for Vitamin C.

Try taking the herb Euchanacia. Take 2 a day and get plenty of rest. I've taken it when I felt a cold coming on and the symptoms were gone after a couple of days.

You are stuck with the cold. Try taking aspirin, to minimize any symptoms. The good thing is that you will build up a tolerance for the germs. This will make you less susceptible in the future.

Get lots of rest. Wash your hands. Try to eat really well over the next few days - take vitamin C (or drink a lot of juice). Steer clear of other sick people.

A good night's sleep always helps me feel better. I hate taking antibiotics, so I drink lots of water and take as much vitamin c as my body can handle. (You know that you've had too much vitamin c when you start to have "tummy issues") Washing your hands throughout the day always helps too!

when i feel like i am going to be sick i take these chewable vitamin c tablets...i think they are sunkist brand so they dont taste bad...and then some zinc tablets that dissolve in your mouth...i think those are sootherbs brand...and that usually stops my colds; I will still have a stuff nose for a day or two but no sore throat or anything else

I taught school - Around more germs than a lab! I always used Cold Eze gum when I thought I was getting sick and it worked.

I like Airborne. It's an effervescent vitamin tablet that helps prevent colds and decrease the severity of colds.
