If you washed them from their previous use and then put them in the fridge there is no way they can make you sick from germs on them. I have never heard that and can think of no reason why it would be true.

No, providing they're clean, a lot of restaurants will chill forks and spoons for dessert, and chill mugs for root beer, or beer or wine, so it's ok.

i've never heard that. but do put my drinking glasses in the freezer after they're washed, it keeps all my drinks cold even longer. i've never gotten sick from it.
